Throwing some wood on the hot stove

Have you heard the latest buzz about the seemingly dead Manny-for-A-Rod, Nomar-for-Ordonez blockbuster deal? According to several fan message boards, including sonsofsamhorn.com and bostondirtdogs.com, the official team sites of the Red Sox, Rangers, and White Sox all changed their flags at the top of their sites within an hour of each other at about 2 a.m. today, removing images of the aforementioned players. Spooky! Conspiracy! What do you think is going on???

Coincidence, I think not. Why would the teams involved not promote such marqee players as, Normar, Ordonez, and above all, A-Rod. The only reason being as that these players are not in the plans of their present teams for 2004. If you believe this deal is dead, I have some plans for a new ballpark in the Fenway I would like to show you ; ) This deal, in my opinion is far from dead. Lets reexamine this come spring training when the deal will actually happen.

I think, as pointed out on sonsofsamhorn, until someone can verify that A-Rod and Ordonez were actually up on their respective team home pages' banners, this may all be hysteria. Do you guys know that the Pats are in the playoffs...again...and that they were World Champs just two seasons ago? Seems to me a lot more relevant than a team that hasn't won the big one for 85 seasons and counting....and, mind you, I've been going to Sox games since 1974. If the trades happen, great, but the Pats are one of many options Sox fans have to occupy their time. The city also has NHL and NBA franchises...

you guys are lookin to keep us interested

Stop it!!!! My summer was already ruined the first time the deal fell through. Don't try and get my hopes up again!

The deal is on!

It is just a coincidence. However, the teams are probably still talking about it. Dumb trade if you ask me. Arod is a better player, but to lose both Manny and Nomar for him, well, not a good idea. Boston had the best offence last year, but most of the players had career years. Boston is banking on another set of career numbers from these guys.

I still think the deal is going to happen. Too much was said, too much work has been done and it came too close for it to just end without the deal like it did. I think the teams needed to cool off and handle this privately so that if it doesnt happen, you dont have all the press up in their face as it was 3 weeks ago

Mike , Whitman

Maybe they finally decided to do it right and keep this under wraps. Maybe Hicks, Selig, and Henry decided it was best to conduct business without openning their big mouths. I think the Sox have to do this trade now. I think it's clear they're not going to be able to sign Nomar; perhaps, they don't even want ot anymore. They already tipped their hats and showed they are willing to spend. They might as well do the trade and pay the money to keep Ordonez.

NOTHING IS GOING ON!!!
