If you're walking on air today, you're not alone in Red Sox Nation. The Sox took six of seven games from the Yankees over the last 10 days, not exactly payback for last season's playoff ouster, but certainly a good start. Do you have a message to all those Yankees fans who spent all of last October gloating? Drop us a note and we'll post a top 10 list at the end of the day, and please, resist the urge to use profanity!
Page 12 Three weeks does not a season make....but if I were a Yankee fan I would be worried at this point. Williams and Jeter hitting .021 this past week really makes you wonder, doesn't it? I will be happy with 12 out of 19 games on the season from the Yanks (we only need 6 out of 12 more!) Jeff, Brookline It's still early, but every win counts come October. And the Master Pitching Plan seems to be working. I'll just hold my breath. jody , brockton Jason Giambi - $12.4 million Derek Jeter - $18.6 million A-Rod - $22 million Team Payroll for 2004 - $184 million Being swept at home by your biggest rival - Priceless Tim, Methuen the babe finally sees the light and leaves the dark side!!!!!!! mark , wellington fl Well, New York...Spring is finally here. And how do we, the Red Sox faithful, celebrate the ouster of old man winter and the banishment of October pain? We break out the brooms for a bit of Spring cleaning! We've heard the Yankee line: "It's only April" Really? Oh...it is only April...and has been for 4 weeks, 19 baseball games, and a .421 winning percentage...your calendric astuteness is commendable. However, we'll concede the point. It is early. But that facts are indisputable...a $180 million venture has a sucess rate of 42%...in any other industry these numbers bring a few more words to mind: "meltdown", "failure", "you're fired!" Oh...and one more thing...in five days it will no longer be April (but I'm sure you already knew that). Spring cleaning has been emphatically completed (6 games to 1) and all without Nomar and Trot. The next time we meet, it will be summer. Better shape up soon because we of Red Sox Nation have already traded in our brooms for rear view mirrors! Philip , Cambridge, MA Thats is your problem, "you want to belive", no, you have to belive, yes, you have a better team, better strutured, so belive, and you wont see a home run to finish your season, take out your negatived, and the sox will win finaly. My prediction for this year is sox 14, yanks 5 and out off the race. remember i dont want, i belive. Julio, Santo Domingo, Dominican Rep. This is only the biginning.......LOL JUDE, BOSTON I also enjoyed the three game sweep in the Bronx this weekend, however it is only April and when its all said and done the Yankees will still be there. If we are 4/12 games up Sept 30th we can gloat then, until that point excercise caution. Go Sox. Tom, Groton I'm a huge red sox fan and enjoyed every minute of these last two series and although it is sweet to take 6 out of 7 from the Yanks, it is after all only April and we have a long way to go but so far so good. George has a huge checkbook and in the past has showed he is not afraid to spend $$$$$$$$ just look at the payroll. I'm sure he is shopping today after he got up off the floor from fainting and is trying to buy yet another world series, do not be surprised too see some additions and/or subtractions soon. As far as A Rod goes we all know when he breaks out, Look Out!! As far as Contreras thank god they beat us out on this one. Jim, Woburn, MA
