I'm as big a Pedro fan as there is, but he crossed a line. The team is running on all cylinders at this point with no sign of slowing down. Contract talk just creates bad feelings. I think they should go back to the unwritten rule of no discussions during the season. As far as I'm concerned, Pedro can pitch wherever he wants next year, it's obvious he puts himself above the team.

take it from mo, don't leave

Pedro says he will not talk more about his contract this year. Right--I'll believe that when I don't hear it. It's time Pedro and his dying arm move on. If he even manages to stay healthy through this entire season, I hope he can win enough games to get pulled out before blowing the playoffs. Then, he can hit the road.

Spend the money that you would have spent on Pedro on Barry Zito. He doesn't give you the innings anymore and, he seems to be pitching game to game, not season to season. You never know when his shoulder will give out. Plus he has been a giant pain the past few years.

I say GOOD RIDANCE to Martinez! Just another SELFISH OVERPAID EGO! They should trade him NOW and get something of value for him. TAKE A HIKE PEDRO!

Let Pedro walk. Sign Tek, Ortiz and Noma. Bye bye to Pedro, he is too much of a whiner, and Lowe, he's not worth the money he's asking for. We must sign Tek, no matter what the cost! He gets better every year and you will not find a guy with his talent, ethics and hard work. Ortiz's bat is needed. Nomah is Nomah, we need Nomah! Take Pedro and Lowe;s money and bring in some quality pitching to help Schilling. That simple, now just do it.

Pay him "slightly" more than Shilling & a multi-yr. contract....use the money saved from present contract to purchase insurance in the event his arm "gives out".... If he won't accept it, make it Public and say bye-bye!!!! The Money Guys have been spoiled to think they're irreplaceable!!!

i don't think either side in this matter is blameless - as with all issues pertaining to business negotiation there are going to be elements of half-truth and other kinds of behind-the-scenes talk that we don't get to see, but i will say that i have gotten a bit tired of pedro's prima donna act over the past 2-3 years. and while i know it's a business, how can he say that he'd be willing to go to the yanks??? gotta hand it to andy pettite - even though the yanks shafted him, because of his love and respect for the fans, he knew that he could NEVER sign with the sox.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.... Bye Bye

I'm just sick and tired of Pedro complaining. He is a great pitcher and probably has plenty more years left. But, his arm is still suspect and threatening to go to the Bronx is just ridiculous. Enough is enough.
