If anyone wants Pedro, the Sox should try to trade him this year. He is too selfish to be happy about the great start the Sox had. He is unhappy, 'cause he "don't get no respect" - let him go. Now.

Pedro is typical of what today's athlete has become.....an example of the most dangerous combination of GREED, EGO, and SELFISHNESS. Unfortunately ownership and fans tolerate it. I couldn't care less if he's shipped out of town.....and, while we are at it, send Ty Law with him !!!!

I remember the season that Randy Johnson went south on the Mariners. The papers said management figured his back was toast and that he was a head case in the club house. They dumped him mid season to ... Houston ? or whatever & then he ended up in Arizona. And, sox fans (I am a from holyoke - I saw bucky dent's homer from the bleachers in '78) -- what about dumping clemens cuz he was washed up? I think it is a good bet that pedro will be in another uniform, probably pitching well. I also think that it is a good bet that the little baby is going to be a pain in the butt.

I've been saying for the last four years that we should trade Pedro for bunches and bunches of prospects. (I have never liked his whinning ways and long thought him to be one pitch away from his arm snapping in two) This year Pedro comes into spring training looking like a man on a misson, a kid rejuinivated. Being downright affable with press and fans alike. My God could it be my hard heart has finally thawed towards Pedro? Yes indeed it has. Pedro, Schilling, Lowe, Wakefield. Arroyo/Kim....dear Lord I love them one and all. Then Pedro has to go and ruin it all. It's real simple Pedro. Even if it's all going to hell contract wise, shut your mouth, put on a brave face and pitch lights out (like we all know you can), that way even if you end up in (gulp!) the bronx (lower case to show disrespect) you will have earned the undying respect of Red Sox Nation. Just look at how we treat gone away stars who acted with class, Bourque, Bledsoe and Walker. Ask yoursel, do you really want to be lumped in with the Clemens of the world?

I just love how the nit wit "Red Sox Nation" goes all ape when Pedro speaks out like this...I can't believe that fans would actually support owners and management (who are RICHER than the players you're complaining about)...if you actually listen to all of what Pedro said, he has a point: The team hasn't been keeping it's word that they'll make an offer. Why not just tell pedro "we won't make an offer until the end of the year". Why keep stringing him along? Not to mention that I agree that the owners dropped negative hints about his health and velocity this spring. Maybe he should have went about it a better way, but fans shouldn't get too carried away with the "team player" BS. That always has been garbage, especially in baseball. Give me 25 "whiney" pedro players that can pitch like he does and play with the intensity on the field that he has. He's the greatest pitcher of our generation and his numbers back it up, he's better than even Koufax was. If you think he's washed up and the sox don't need him...wait until the end of the year, he still end up with the most wins and best era on the staff. Yep, let's get rid of him 'cause he's passionate and speaks his mind...I'd rather have that and a world series than fake "team players" any day. Grow up people...

Petey wants MORE $ for diminishing talent. Isn't it enough that he makes more cheese already than *any* pitcher in the history of the game? Let Pedro and his subpar heater walk, and use the $ to sign Varitek, Lowe and Ortiz

It makes me sad that Pedro would do something like this. There have been times when I would look at Pedro, and I'd think that he was nothing less than God in a baseball uniform, but from his comments I can see that what Pedro cares about is getting paid. I feel as if Pedro stabbed his fans in the back. We love him, and he is using us to suck more money out of the system for himself. Pedro has been my favorite player, and I think he has been the essence of the Red Sox for the past 6 years. That is why I am sad about this. I'd love to see Pedro take a small discount and finish his brilliant career with the Red Sox, but if that can't happen then I think the Sox should give him a few more starts so he can prove he's got something left and then Epstein should do what he can to get rid of him. I'm sorry Pedro, but if you don't want to be here, then I don't want you here. This is a 2-way relationship.

Let's face it, Pedro is no longer the dominant pitcher that he was pre-shoulder problems. He's simply a good pitcher now. I think the Sox management is taking a very sensible approach to resigning him. Let him pitch this season and then determine what his value is. If he is asking for too much then let him walk. Sadly, i see a guy who will break down at least once a year and who has lost a lot of velocity and hitters no longer fear him. I think at most he's worth 10-12mill a year and no more than a 3 year deal. Some one will overpay for him in the open market... my guess is... he's gone.

I hold Pedro Martinez in thie highest possible contempt and disdain. I have been a Yankee fan my whole life, but there were times when I swore I would root for another team because of the likes of George Steinbrenner. That has never yet happened. If Steinbrenner were ever to entertain thoughts of getting Martinez, I'd root for the Orioles.

I hate Pedro and everything he stands for. Let him walk and get someone like Tim Hudson to take his place. We will save some money on the deal that we can use to resign Nomat and others. See ya later, Pedro!!!! Good riddance!
