I say let Pedro and Nomar walk. Sign Tek, Ortiz, and then go out and sign a stud second baseman, keep Pokey at short, and Bring Roger Back.

Let him go whine somewhere else- and get two $10 million guys who can pitch deeper than the 5th or 6th inning.

well, i think he is a cry baby, and we should trade him for another good pitcher!!! randy johnson

pedro signed the contract and he should live up to the agreement-a pitcher with self confidence would be more than willing to play out the season, show his true worth, and then negotiate from there. what is he afraid of-?

Pedro's proclimation has put enormous pressure on himself, not the Sox. Now he must perform extremely well during 2004 or his value sinks way down. If he does perform well, Sox will benefit and can deal with him after the season in a reasonable way. If he does not, sayonara Pedro.

I have always been a Pedro supporter. Until now. He has exposed himself as a selfish prima donna with an ego no longer backed by his fastball. He is not worth the money and the hassle, even if he gets a Cy Young next year with the Yankees.

Alan , Portland, Maine

The machinations of a highly paid prima dona not withstanding, if your car on its best days only got you 6 of the nine miles between your home and work, moaned and complained in doing so while keeping you guessing as to whether or not the transmission was going to fall out as you paid more for it than anyone else paid for their's, would you keep it? Certainly not. Let Pedro go to free agency, let Schilling be number one for a couple years, move Arroyo back into the rotation, spend the money saved to retain Veritek, Ortiz and others who want to play the game.

Dick, Gardiner, Maine

LET HIM WALK !!!...He only talks when it suits his own selfish agenda...never mind that the team is winning and harmonious...spend his and Nomar's money on Lowe, Varitek, and Ortiz...Bring in Orlando Cabrera to play SS...All he has done since he has been here is WHINE about respect...This is a guy who took the last week of the 2002 season off after winning # 20...he had nothing left to prove for HIS Cy Young...The team was still mathematically in the race...At least the writers saw thru him and gave the Cy to Zito...LET HIM WALK !!!

Pedro is a baby and he is at the tail end of his career. Believe me, he will not end up in Pinstripes. The Yankees didn't want Ramirez (another punk) and they certainly wouldn't take someone who is only out for himself like Pedro. If he didn't try to play the part of superstar hero, the Red Sox probably would have made it to the World Series last year.

John, Hanover

Pedro should let his pitching speak for itself. If he has a good year, then he will get a new contract from the Sox, or whomever. He needs to stop the tiny tears and play ball.
