Pedro has often shown his immaturity in a number of ways when he doesn't get his own way. We all have seen him bean players when things arent going well. The night he pitched after saying he would walk is a typical example. Did he throw the game? That should be a topic of conversation. I watched that game closely and can definetly say that his pitches were intentionally thrown to be hit. This was Pedro's way of saying screw you to the sox. If it happens again send him to the minors and let him think about it.

Pete, you make $700,000 per game and are the highest paid pitcher in baseball this year. SHUT UP AND PITCH!!!!

michael, danvers

He isn't telling us anything we didn't already know. He is going into the market so he can get the highest bid. Nothing the Sox could do other than way over paying him will make a difference. It didn't matter that the Sox picked up his option or the fact that he has been paid 90 million dollars. This is strictly a matter of business. From that standpoint it would be foolish for the Sox to invest lots of years and lots of money in a guy who is losing velocity and is a 6 inning pitcher. Lets wait and see what he does this year and let him earn a new contract. Guess what, in the final analysis he will sign with the team that offers him the most. If that is the Red Sox he will swallow his pride and the little princess will be right back here next year.

Pedro should just shut up and pitch. He is still a very good pitcher at times but is not above a responsible organization taking into account his health and history. We have put up with his antics for a long time..he just isn't worth it anymore. Shut up and play..17.5 mil is respect enough

Trade him for young pitching in July

I think that Pedro's comments are foolish of him, especially at this time. It is another example of him putting himself before the better of the club. I am sick and tired of this "Marquis" players being anything less than a 'class-act'. It is clear that he is having more question marks every year (or every game) about what his anticipated performance is going to be. I believe that he is having trouble coming to grips with his own mortality as a pitcher. I believe that he is struggling with his own demons as he is now decending to the level of just a "very good" pitcher. Be is not "the best" pitcher in baseball anymore and that his a tough high for him to come down from. The problem is is his ego. I think that having Curt Schiling on the team has been uncomfortably humbling for Pedro. Curt has been approached for numerous endorsements. I have yet to see a Pedro commerical this year! All in all, if the Sox do not intend on signing him, possibly trading him to the NL would be an option. Looking at the future of the club, I see that Varitek is the guy we need to sign before Pedro.

Great timing by the pretentious crybaby to focus the first month of the season around him. After he forced the brass to pick up a $17.5 mill option on him prior to the start of last season, in fear of Pedro pouting all yr, that made him the highest paid pitcher in the game, he couldn't win ANY of the biggest games of his career in the postseason. And now this? BYE BYE If he couldn't block a trade to a non-contender, he'd be gone gone gone before the end of the yr for a decent pitcher with true grit and who would play through the pressures w/out whining to the media about his contract money... Earth to Pedro: Keep your 17.5 million dollar mouth shut and do your job.

Eric, Westford

That's right! Enough is enough. Time to give this guy his walking papers. He talks about no respect. 17.5 million is a lot of respect especially when it was given when management had no obligation to do so. I think we're stuck with him though. Who would pay that kind of money for a palyer who has only one focus - himself. The Sox were on a great run - the best team in the majors and what does this guy do but take the focus away from that and turn it all on to him. I for one am tired of his whining. Let him go and spend that money on some quality "team" players like Nomar, Lowe, and Varitek.

Peter, New Brunswick

Pedro can take his whining, his lousy attitude and his 88 mph "fastball" and go to another team as far as I'm concerned. He is the most pampered athlete in the history of New England professional sports. The Red Sox have catered to his every whim since day one, yet somehow he claims to have been repeatedly disrespected. I don't think there is any question that his performance level has fallen off dramtically, and he no longer deserves to be the highest paid pitcher in baseball. I don't think that any team will give him the type of deal that he wants. I just hope that he doesn't turn into any larger of a clubhouse cancer during his time in Boston.

Trade him for young pitching, what would these guys do if they had to work? Don't they understand that road meal money is alot more then a lot of people are living on, the elderly with fixed incomes, and only social security. The only one I would sign is Jason V
