Can paydro win a world series for us? Absolutely not! Who blew a 2-0 lead in ALCS game 3 and 5-2 lead in game 7 last year?? A $17m paid "most dominant" pitcher wouldn't have done that. Let him go!

He blew the game in Texas. Let's not even talk about Game 7 of last year. His pitching is off more than it's on. Why do we have to endure his whining and pointing to the sky after blowing leads? Let him go. Get someone in here who loves the game more than the money. Pedro's money is NOT spent in the USA, but in the Dominican Republic. He already lives like a king on that poor island. Just how much money does he need? Get rid of him, he's tired.

We all know Sox fans pay the highest price for games in the MLB. Unfortunately even so financially it is not sustainable for RedSox to keep its 120+ mil payroll. I guess the question then is what is John Henry & Co.'s intention for after 2004? It might be the strategy for the management not to sign any of the big four before the season started. But what kind of impact to the players' performance is waited to be seen. No matter how much players like Lowe and Martinez say it is not going to change the way they work, it is impossible to have zero impact. Hopefully the Sox management has a plan about this.

If this is all about securing an insurance policy to cover the cost of the contract, then why the bad blood?? Ask the Orioles about Albert Belle, and his mammoth contract. Mo (Jumbo) Vaughn, Angels first game, falls into the dugout, and he's never the same. Ask Bryce Florie how his career has been going after taking the line dive off his noggin. The list goes on. The organization has the reponsiblity to cover themselves in any event Pedro cannot fulfill the terms in the contract . Unfortunately, we aren't inside the negotiations. I wonder if Pedro is!!. Pedro seems to feel under appreciated, and diss'd. I never thought one could feel that way for $17.5 million a year. The big Four all seem to be in the same boat. Only Mr Varitek has continued to be the ultimate professional. As a Sox fan, I want him to stay for his pitching abilities, but not if he's holding the team hostage. T Bartlett

Who cares...Pedro is (and always has been) extremly selfish and not about the Team. Just like there is no "I" in Team there is no $ in team either. I don't know about you, but a rotation of Schilling, Lowe, Wakefield, Arroyo, and Kim doesn't sound too bad. Let's just focus on signing the important people...Varitek is a must, then Lowe, then Garciaparra, then if we really feel like offering Pedro a contract he'll turn down, go for it.

Pedro is a whiner and not worth the money. Every year he seems to be out for too much time. Tommy Lasorda was right when he said Pedro was too small to pitch a full season in the majors. We need to keep the players that we need and go back to the drawing board with many. Let's take a page out of the Twins notebook and draft and farm our talent. Every year for the past few they are have a good team and none of the whining or payroll. So in my opinion, let Pedro walk, he can be someone else's problem.
