Page 2 SEE YA!!!!!! Go Get Your Respect Some Place Else! What You Going to Do When No Team Bids on You Pedro? Happened to Manny .... Why Not You? Joe , Waltham How many millions of dollars per appearance is Pedro current contract worth. Today’s professional athlete is far more worried about what everyone else’s contract is worth than he is about the obligation he has to the contract he is already under. The examples are endless and not limited to baseball (Ty Law for example). The owner are in part responsible this sad state of affairs and as long as the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox are willing to continue there bidding war for these self proclaimed supper heroes we the fans will continue to suffer the consequences. I say let him go, the best Boston Red Sox teams that I can remember were those that were home grown our own farm system, I don’t remember any large ticket free agents in 67. Don , Pembroke We need him, he's still one of the best pitchers in baseball. I've been very concerned that none of the free agents that can leave at the end of the year were signed before spring training concluded, despite Theo's claims that they were the priorities. It makes me wonder what the agenda of the current ownership is. We don't need this now, this could be a great season and, typically, now there's a huge problem overshadowing what happens on the field. Ric, Malden He deserves the right to say what he wants. For the red sox ownership not to have made an offer is just pathetic, of the four they have not tried to sign them, there is no one next year on the open market who can replace them so they better show them the money. mike, newton I don't give a hoot who Pedro or any other millionaire mercenary play for. Sorry for you hurt feelings Pedro...hope your $17.5 million this season will soothe the pain. tom , lynn, MA This is what I assumed would happen. I would like to see Pedro finish his career here. I also respect what this new ownership group has done with our home town team thus far. There is little doubt in my mind that Pedro will be in pinstripes next year if the Red Sox do not overwhelm him now. To this point it does not look as if they intend to sign Pedro, Lowe, Varitek or Nomar. If they don't , they best have an acceptable plan to keep this team in the hunt moving foward! Chris, Dighton Pedro is all about money. Money equals respect. If redsox shows him money, he will be back. wei, baltimore I usually feel as though Pedro whines and is ungreatful for what he has had in Boston, but I feel like he has a point here. Boston should have at least given him an offer to work with.. Rob, Hanover, MA Why now? Why would he ruin the fun we've been having since the year began? Why does he always have to make it about Pedro? Why has he looked like a AA pitcher early this year? I am sick and tired of his whining everytime the Boston media begins to pick on him. Do your job, take your check, and move on. It's just to bad for us that he happens to be the best pitcher to lace up a pair of cleats. Fremont' John , Columbia MD If this is Pedro's last stand, so be it. He was very well compensated during his contract term. While he was considered the pitching ace, by signing Curt, his prestige has been downgraded. Notwithstanding his performance at all, his speed is down and his control has been variable at times. I say let him cry and moan and wait till the end of the season to see just how his shoulder is after the season. Business is business and I guess Pedro has gone to that route, too.
