Petey, Don't let the door hit you on the butt on the way out.

1. Pedro is the highest paid pitcher in baseball. 2. The Red Sox extended his contract a year earlier than he requested. 3. The Red Sox have not talked about the negitionations in the press. 4. Pedro said he was not going to talk to the media this year. I think those are pretty good reasons for Pedro to have kept his tirade out of the press. I understand his desire to halt negotiations during the season, and I think it's a fine ploy to tell the Red Sox he will be testing free agency at the end of the season. But don't do it in the media when this team is obviously contending for a pennant through the season. It was very much a Diva's performance. And to call his bosses liars in the media and infer that they are destroying this team - when they are paying him the highest pitcher's salary in baseball is the worst in egotism.

Good Riddens Pedro - you're like a bad seed amidst a blooming garden - we don't need you OR your attitude - let's remember who blew the series for us last year - that would be non other than Pedro. Bye.....Bye........don't let the bats hit your home run balls on the way out.

pedro has every right to break off negotiations, decide to go to free agency, make public proclaimations. everyone has that right. what should trump that right is the more important desire to not distract the other players -- the TEAM. these men can't be expected to give unwavering support to the owners, the city, the legacy. that's asking too much of someone who is not guaranteed a job for life, and indeed someone who will ultimately go to another town (for every trot nixon, they'll be 50 gary sheffields). by going public in such a harsh way at a time when the momentumn of the seaon seemed to be all about this group of talented men, bonding on and off the field and being more than a sub of the parts, pedro did the absolutely worst thing he cound do. he let down his team mates. what a disappointment.

Who do you think you are? You are no longer the "ace" of the team, You have not pitched worth your paycheck this year, and you are a whiner. I was a huge fan. Now I have two words to say

Poor Pedro-he must feel so oppressed, having the burden of that $17.5 million option triggered last season, which the Sox did not have to do. If only the Sox would understand that Pedro needs a $1M pacifier per month to shut him up, a pair of kiddie gloves to keep him warm during the April games, a set of diapers to change him in between innings-then I'm sure Pedro might be in the mood to pitch then. What a disgrace-his phony comparisons of his plight to the other potential Sox free agents (Nomar, DLowe, Varitek, Ortiz) is shallow, and rings pretty hollow with his "I feel sorry for the fans of Boston" considering the guy makes 17.5 mil. I hope he pitches decently enough for us this year to give the TEAM a chance to WIN THE WORLD SERIES. After that, I hope the Yankees do sign Pedro. Let Steinbrenner change his diapers from now on, they'll quickly find out what a bloody prima donna they have on their hands.

Enough! You're getting 17m this year to pitch. Shut up and pitch. I don't want to hear about any contract talks. I've always been a fan of Pedro, but I think he is getting to be a problem, distracting from a team game. I didn't like Lowe's comments earlier either. Keep the business side out of the papers and if you don't get the price you want.....leave.

Martinez once again proved that he is not a professional basebal player as he would like to think he is. The sport of baseball is his profession, his job that pays him a ridicilous salary so he can go play a game that so many people hold dear. Unfortunately he sounds like a little whining toddler, asking for more candy and TV time. I believe that he is bluffing with his comments about going to the Yankees, and that is because he knows how much it hurts Red Sox fans just the mention of that team's name. He is definitely getting older, slower, more injury prone and not a CY Young award winner contender. He should be thankful for what he has and be appreciative of the dedication of the fans that even forgave his playoff's gaff.

I am so sick of him, I never liked him anyway. Nothing but a baby. Plus he stinks this year, he can't dominate anymore. You watch his games will be more losses then wins. I say let him go. Grab another decent pitcher that can go with Curt. We got the bats. Screw Pedro. he does not even live in the US anyway.

How much is enough. Every year it is something with Pedro. He's a great pitcher, no argument here, but he is always a distraction. Let him go to free agency and with the money saved, spend it on the "team" players that need to be signed. We will be OK without him.
