Good riddance. The Yankees can have his whining and his selfish attitude. His Friday night debacle along with the saturday night meltdown only means one thing...The curse lives on!

I think Pedro is the best pitcher there is. If he does good everybody is for him & when he doesn't watch out for the media. I think he should have chosen a better time but we all handle things our own way. The press has compared him against the new guy & has caused a little friction there. It's the top people who have let this money problem happen & now it's gone way beyond. Sure, it's a business, but has always been for families etc. Pretty soon a family won't be able to go to the park. I would hate to see Pedro leave as we need him. Let up on him!! The press was still talking & showing last yrs.games at the beginning of the season. Good for him to defend himself. Can't imagine a 70 yr. old fat man going out to take a poke at Pedro. We need to get real here. Good luck, Pedro.

Get rid of the distraction. No player (employee) should be allowed to make comments that could seriously hurt the synergy of the team. No one individual is worth it.

I think this is just perfect the way it is now. Pedro will be motivated to pitch his best for the rest of the season--not to help the team but to try to increase his value for the open market. If he has a good season, we'll hopefully offer enough to keep him around. If he doesn't, I'm sure some other team will over pay just to have THE great Pedro Martinez and we can be rid of one big headache and move on to pitchers with futures.

I hope that Pedro pitches his tail off this season as that will bode well for the Sox. And then gets whatever he can from some other team willing to take on a prima donna.

I don't like the way the management is handling the free agents, Pedro is not the first to complain about the lack of communication. If they don't want to sign these guys that is fine but I think they should be communicating with them more & at least be upfront with their intentions. Alot of these players, Lowe (1 good year), Pedro (health), Nomar (Health) & Varitek (age for a catcher) have question marks, they should be upfront with them if they are interested in letting the season play out and then make their offers. But the other thing that bothers me about alot of the posts I see is that people call all these players greedy or money hungry etc... Has anyone checked out how much Henry & Co. are worth? If you have, maybe you should be throwing a few names in their direction as well. Unfortunately, I just have a feeling that 1 or 2 years from now Red Sox Nation is going to be very upset with this management. Everybody talks about letting Pedro go & using the 17.5 million, what if they don't use that 17.5 million?

Adios Muchacho! Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. How about we at least trade him for something , not like Roger, Mo, Fisk et al? As for as going to the Yankees, Great ! It will be our secret weapon that he'll go there and ruin their chemistry!

I remember when the sox first aqquired Pedro and how the ticket prices immediatly went up 4 dollars to cover his contract. I can only assume we'll see yet another increase if we do re-sign him and pay him all this money. When is enough money enough for these overpaid athlete's? Ticket prices are getting so rediculous that only the well off can afford to go to games. I had to give up my season tickets because I just can't afford them anymore or the steady price increases that come with them. I say let him go and squeeze some other team for money.
