Pedro Martinez, in comments to the media, Friday declared "enough is enough" and closed the door on contract negotiations with the Sox, saying he will enter free agency after the season. Page 7 I personaly believe that every time that Pedro opens his mouth he should eat his words because when Pedro made the famous " I don't believe in Curses" quote.. and everyone remembers what happened he injured his shoulder and there went the days of the "firethrowing" pedro who could dial it up to 95-97mph and he still says that he is the same "old" pedro but i personaly think that he is a completely different pitcher no longer is he throwing in the high 90's but he is a more of a "Greg Maddux" type of pitcher who uses his pitches and his intelligence to now get hitters out rather than just trying to throw it by them... So we shall see what happens but i think that if Pedro leaves he will be following in the footsteps in the Roger "twilight of his carrer" and Mo Vaughn who disagreed with the previous ownership regimn and left and his carerr went south quickly.. So who knows hopefully Pedro and the Redsox can work things out and we will be able to see Pedro in a sox uniform for a long time but if that doesn't happen that we just have to get ready to move on Sasha , Noriwch Nr. Henry, You are an extremely successful businessman. Don't change your habit because this is a sports franchise. REMOVE Pedro from uniform permanently and announce that you desire to field players who want to contribute toward the Red Sox success on and off the field. I think you will be amazed at the results on and off the field. Don , Sneads Ferry, NC Enough is enough! I know he is good but why can't anyone live comfortably on 14.5mil per year? The same goes for Nomar and Lowe! We out here in the "real" world are struggling[sp] trying to make ends meet and they are B&M about $8-$12-$15 mil per year. Give me a break. I don't care that haven't won since 1918. Red Sox baseball is still the best on earth... Go get Theo! Enough is enough, it must start somewhere and if anyone can't live on $8million per something is wrong. The whole system stinks, I work all yaer long and don't make 1/1000th of the money they make and they don't work any harder or longer than any typical American worker. I really have had enough, and I love the Red Sox... I'd hate to think of him in a Yankee uniform but so be it... Stick to what is best for you and baseball...Theo! The Red Sox will live without him and we will move on just as we have done with The Babe and that guy in Texas... I just think that the dalaries have gone whacko... John Q. Public can not afford to go to the park any longer.. JOHN , BENNINGTON, VT 05201 put him in pinstripes. we dont need the distractions. jeff , putnam ct. Pedro should realize how lucky he is to play baseball for a living and be quiet. If he gets what he wants salaries and contracts will spiral out of control. Someone should explain to him what is happening to the NHL and he'll shut up. John , Brookline Pete isn't the pitcher he used to be. The Sox should let him test the market, and look for a replacement. Since he is no longer the number one pitcher in baseball, they should be able to find an adequate replacement. If they try and resign him they'll end up overpaying. frank , boca raton, fla Insofar as when you are born a Red Sox fan you live (and die) a Red Sox fan, I have to say Pedro is working harder with his jaw than his arm. We may have made a mistake with the Rocket, but giving Pedro what he wants won't hurt the team. Enough is enough. Especially after last night. Barry , Los Angeles Pay Pedro, ENOUGH about his reduced velocity allready Bob Welch won 27 games in 1990 with control and a 85-89mph fast ball. Pedro is easily in the top three pitchers in the AL. Punchy Pat (From Southie), Austin Tx he is overpaid to pitch and not make dumb statements. If boston is not to be his team next year the kiss himgoodbye and wish him luck and his new team.Boston has treated him fairly so they should have noregrets. M., berlin,nh He is the biggest wimp I've ever seen in Boston. His salary is huge, he leaves games early, arrives at practice late, and misfires in the off season. Let the bum go, he's an ungrateful whiner. I look forward to him wearing Yankee stripes. They deserve each other.
