Diagnose the scuffling Sox

The Red Sox dropped their fifth straight game Wednesday night, dropping into a tie with the Yankees for first place in the AL East. A week ago, they led the Bombers by 4½ games!

They've been sloppy in the field, slumping at the plate and Pedro's whining again. So what can Terry Francona and Co. do to right the ship? Is this just a temporary snap, or in the Sox in serious trouble? Give us your take on Boston's woes, and what you think they can do to get back on track.

Well, i think that is what gets managers in trouble as it is. They start fooling around with the lineup, trying to make guys start playing in a way their not accustomed. Everyone is human and their will be slumps, it's inevitable. In reality, what Terry needs to do is to just let them play baseball, it's still a game that they know how to play very well. They will hit themselves out of a slump. The worst thing for a baseball players head it for him to be thinking about what's going wrong. As we all know baseball is as mentally tough as any sport out there. Terry just needs to sit back, relax a little and let his boys play.

I would have to win as many games as possible by managing my game. The players are professionals and they know how to prepare to play. There are distractions abound and he has key players up for free agency. He is pretty much in a win-win situation since so much scrutiny has been deflected to 'Dro and other impending FA's. If the team tanks, he can still keep the job as the organization builds for the future. Besides, if they are out if it by the trade deadline, gee look at all of these bargaining chips!!!! If the team wins they win. They've been a winning organization for the past 20 years and I have no idea why he gets heat if the team does not win the WS. In other words, if I'm the manager, I am thinking screw the fans and media, I've got a job to do.

The Sox are (as usual) the scariest team in the AL East. Of course, as history shows, that proves NOTHING. But the fact still remains they are a quality team. Just run the regulars through the lineup every day and they will come out of it. And lets not forget - it IS only May!!

I think that the losing streak is part of that roller coaster ride that is being part of Red Sox Nation. The Red Sox are too good to fall too far behind--maybe being tied with the Yankees for first place can give them the extra shove they need to win. As far as Pedro goes, he may be a great pitcher, but what a poor example of a man. I get annoyed with his victim mentality. The highlight this year so far is Manny. He seems to have changed his tune, if only Pedro would do the same.

I would hand over the division to the Yankees. Let's face it, the Red Sox franchise is pathetic, and will continue to be.......

After watching "Tito" in Philly for four years, I would suggest the Red Sox ask Grady Little if he's doing anything.
