OK Sox fans, time to vent

Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys.

To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August.

Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night.

The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ...

In 41 years as a loyal fan, I cannot recall such deep frustration. The players cannot execute in the clutch (right now they would not even prevail in the Cape Cod League). The Red Sox will not win a championship again; the institution that is the Red Sox simply never will have the confidence. I have given up. Truly I have. Our three children do not deserve to endure another generation of pain and frustration.

Please, put the gun to your heads and end it all so WE, the fans, of Red Sox nation, won't suffer anymore!!! I cannot remember ever saying this....Thank God, Football is almost here!!! GO PATS!!!

Choke artists! August came early this year for our wonderful Red Sox. Move the team and then expand in two years with a new park and maybe this city will see a baseball championship .

Peter, Revere

Trade Nomar for something worthwhile while you still can. Dump Lowe to someone who will give value as they are after a pennant run. Bring back Daubach who can hit and at least field better than what you've got. Teach Francona to walk a batter with a man on third and try for the double play.On second thought, fire Francona.

We need to trade Nomar Garcia-popup. He is bring the team down. He doesn't even look like he gives a damn. We do not need his kind of attitude. I think we need a new Manager also. Tony Franconia is not making very good decisions and he's a wuss. Nomar should have been moved to the 9th position and Pokey Reese moved to 5th. Even better bench Nomar. I was one of Nomar's biggest fan till this year. He makes it so obvious that he doesn't want to be with Boston let him go!!

The Red Sox continue to play with the absence of a competitive fire. I think Tim Wakefield summed it up well when he said there is a fine line between playing to win and playing not to lose. These players seem to be playing tight instead of letting their natural abilities take over. It is obviously frustrating to watch.

Whatever chemistry this team had going for it last year is obviously gone. At the risk of scapegoating, I think Francona's "don't worry, we'll get them tomorrow" attitude only makes their problems worse. The team needs less pats on the back and more kicks in the butt. This is a team with championship talent that may not make the playoffs and that should be viewed as being unacceptable.

I don't care who you are, how good you were last year, 5 years ago, or 20 years ago. You nine men are only as good, and in this case, as bad as your last game. You guys are paid a gazzillion dollars every year to win baseball games. You guys deserve nothing better than to "ride the pine" so that lesser paid, hungrier players, can start winning games. But I'll bet your "contracts" wouldn't allow that deserved indignity to happen. Here it is, only the end of June, and you're already playing for a wild card spot.

William , Manchester

Why should we care anymore? They don't seem to care themselves. All this team wants is more money and frankly they're not worth what they get paid now, especially Nomar who consistently makes errors and costs us games. Nomar is hurting us more than helping us! This team needs to be more aggressive and manufacture runs. Francona needs a new game plan fast!

I'm done. Go Pats.
