Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys. To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August. Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night. The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ... Page 10 This feels all too familiar. No clutch hitting (just like '02), Garciapop-up is back in the line-up (just like '03) and good pitching performances are not being backed by any run support. And the defense... well it's more offensive than defensive. No other team knows how to make an entire city angry at them like our Boston Red Sox. And dangit, Williamson is on my fantasy team! Jed , Boston A very disappointing run, for sure. Boston is very down right now. This defense needs drastic improvement and this offense needs to stop relying on homeruns. We need base hits, a running game - an intelligent baseball game and intelligent management. I'm sorry Boston, but I don't care how high a payroll is, how many stars a team has - without those basic ingredients a team is worthless. The Yankees had their lowest low at the start of the season. Let's hope that this is our lowest low this season. BS, Somerville at least they are collapsing early and saving us a heartbreaking september. I knew Francona was the wrong guy. Theo has made a lot of very good choices, but the selection of Fracona was a terrible one. He sucks! He needs to pull his skirt up and check to see if he has any balls!! This is the season because the Sox are going to suck for a number of years after. Brendan, Brighton Easy, they stink. Yet another lesson to moronic Sox fans who get cocky in April only to come crashing back to earth. You'd think they would have learned by now. The curse will live forever. jonny, chelsea When the Red Sox took 6 out of 7 games against the Yankees, Red Sox fans were in heaven. Even little Sox fan give a birdie on newspaper. Yankees fans, just as the team, were confidently quiet knowing Yankees will come back. Now this is time for the Sox fans to act like a winner. Setting up a message to vent is ridiculous. It's sign of a loser. John, East Brunswick Ist Base is a problem-put McCarty on first, you don't need his bat. If he was in the last two nights, we probably would have won two games. Francona is frightening, lose him! Sit Nomar, he has hurt more than he has helped. Go out and get some help, because they just aren't performing. LEONARD , Middletown, RI These guys are horrible, can't hit in the clutch, can't field, throw, bunt and the manager is strategically paralyzed. WTF is Millar doing in the lineup? Where is McCarty? I have been to many games this year and I am disgusted with the management of this team. Francona sits in the dugout rocking back and forth like Rainman...WAKE-UP Rick, Billerica I'm very sad, you know if they were playing hard and with a little spirit, you might say things will come around. but i feel there is a big problem, nomar who is my favorite player I have concerns about is he really giving 100% it's not the fans fault for what happened over the winter with a-rod. another disappointment millar sit him down. and last but not least i feel everything starts with the manager i know they are grown men but sometimes you need a little push and my feeling is francona has to pull a rabbit out of his hat because we need some magic............ debbie , malden,ma Tony Clark?!?!? Why does this always happen to the Red Sox? I really can't remember Clark EVER winning a game for the Sox when he played in Boston. It was always, "he's working his way out of the slump... he's been a great hitter in the past... "ad nauseum. Once again a player who sucked in Boston comes around and hits key homers against them.
