OK Sox fans, time to vent

Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys.

To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August.

Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night.

The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ...

Trade Nomar?! Please who'd want to add that error machine to their club. Oh course they probably will and he'll go on to have the best season of his career.

Shelly, Quincy

Good teams win with a 2 run lead in the 7th. A good manager will get the team a win by doing all the right things. Changes need to be made - ASAP. It might be July 1st, but Oct 1st is coming quickly. Theo, please do something to make this summer as great as last summer because I can't rely on the Patriots to bring me out of the dumps again.

Chris , Reading, PA

There is only one thing I want to say, they play like little league and are not worthy of our passion. Man I am sick of this underacheiving team.

Kris, Worcester

What is going on? I have never been so discouraged this early in the season. I never thought I would be so distraught with the Red Sox on July 1st. Can't someone in that clubhouse kick around a few trash cans and get the attention of the players? ( A fan would be nice, if there are any left!) The players have been handheld by Francona all season and how has that worked out, huh? I was keeing the faith, but now I am on unsteady ground. I hope I can get a boost soon, and I'm not talking about 1 win in NY...I need a sweep before the All-star break. If we manage to sweep a series , a few Yankee losses would boost me too! GIVE ME STRENGTH!!!

Sarah, Norwood

I predict that the Tampa Bay Devil Rays will win The World Series before the Red Sox

How about a first baseman that knows how to catch a ball???? I can't blame Nomar for the throw, any good fielding first baseman would've caught that. Don't get me wrong...I love Ortiz...but he's a DH.

How can I say this without sounding like a typical Yankee fan, your management (although brilliant at times, I am talking about the Theo era only) made a major blunder with the A-Rod deal. You alienate your franchise player and you are just plain old stupid. You think Cashman would do that with Jeter. Never in a million years. You had a real good thing with Nomar, no you won't next year. It's a shame. I thought this year would be a better rivalry than last year. Who knows, there are still 3 months left of baseball and anything can happen.

I've been a fan for 35+ years, but this year has been the hardest yet right from the get go of spring training. I could see right away this team did not have the fire of last season. The two biggest mistakes the Red Sox management made this winter was hiring Francona and the A-Rod fiasco. Francona was a lousy choice for manager, too easy going and sometimes you can't always play by stats. Stats will not tell you who a clutch hitter is. The A-Rod fiasco was a team chemistry killer, management should not had pursued it unless they were going all the way. Time to change the hitters on this team. Make some trades, Nomar, Millar, Bellhorn, Crespo, Lowe, and Damon should go. Some serious trades will wake up the club.

I was at the Wed night game and said to my friend that when the Sox didn't score in the 7th with no outs and the bases loaded that they were going to lose. It is their destiny as always. I truly have seen enough of Nomar, he is not a team player anymore, it seems that none of the team wants anything to do with him. He never was a great fielder but now forget about it. Put Pokey at SS and trade Nomar. They have enough offense to allow a lighter hitting SS to take over. Nomar's days should be over as a Red Sox'r. Maybe he is still upset about the offseason and his potential trade that he is trying to screw up the team. Trade him for a frontline #1 pitcher. Secondly as I am watching the game I notice that Belhorn is not even remotely close to guarding the line in the eighth inning. Isn't this basic baseball from Little League. Where is the manager? He hasn't done a good job at all. Lastly, and stayimng on Francona, why wasn't Embree brought in to turn Clark around to bat righty where he is a weaker hitter. I am pannicking for sure, and changes need to come,Big Changes!

Completely devastating. I attended the debacle and can honestly say as soon as the bases were left loaded after having nobody out without scoring a run, everyone in the stadium knew what was going to happen next.
