Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys. To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August. Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night. The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ... Page 17 Is this really happening?Im about to have an ulcer.......... dave, quincy My only consolation to the Red Sox' recent disgusting display of fundamental baseball miscues is that message boards such as this give typical Yankee fans like Northshore from Boxford a chance to show the world just how childishly limited their intellects are. Ted, Boston Everyone cheer up. I believe in these guys! Millar will come around - he just want's us all to eat a little more KFC chicken. All Nomar needs is a 15 million multi year contract and he'll be able to look a ball into his glove. You guys are so pessimistic! All these comments are going to make D-Lowe cry! Ferry Tancona, Arlington I am fed up with watching the Red Sox through this slump. Nothing can be more depressing than watching players who make millions of dollars a year to play the game bobble balls and fail to make simple outs. I am equally as upset at the way Francona manages the game, keeping a guy like Ortiz at first base when you're looking to protect a 2-0 lead. Why not put your best defensive first baseman out there to prevent any errors from occurring. Also, please get Kevin "Eminem" Millar out of the lineup and send him down to Pawtucket. He's been horrendous as of lately, and the last thing I need to hear of is that Francona is actually being sympathetic and supportive of him. Give me a break. Get this guy outta here!!!! Ben, Clinton,MA Francona and Nomar both need a one way ticket to the West cost. Who da thought Nomar would end up to be the cancer on this team. Francona couldn't make the right dicission if he only had one option.. GO PATS Matt, kingston, NY Fire Francona. This is what happens when you are softer than #@%& with your players. I'd also release Lowe and make a blockbuster involving Nomar before July 31. This team needs a major, major shakeup if they are going to save this season. Tim, Westbrook A $130 million payroll and the $30 million payroll Tampa Bay Devil Rays are 3.5 behind the Sox. Are Red Sox fans still going to cry about the Yankee payroll when a $30 million payroll team is right behind them? Proc, Boston Can we have Jimy Williams back? And aren't you supposed to put in your best defensive players with a close lead at the end of the game? "If we had a couple more runs, I would have," said Francona. Did Theo give this guy the proper screening, or did he know someone in the front office? Seth, Boston I knew what I wanted to say until I got to this point, now I am speechless. 60 unearned runs. This is not a issue for one single guy, this is a team problem. Most of it stems from having the devastating injuries in spring training. The guys who have filled in are playing at their potential now. They are not great players just adequate fill-ins at best. Something is wrong with Nomar. I feel it. Nothing physically wrong, mentally he is not there. He is beating himself up over errors, bad plate appearances, his contractual year, and offseason distractions. As much as I would hate to see him leave maybe it would be mutually beneficial if we traded him. Cabrara and Renteria are both FA's. We also have Pokey. For the good of Nomar's mind and the betterment of the E column its time to cut the cord. We will mis you Nomar but all good things must come to an end. Jim Jim, Wolfeboro Falls, NH TERRY FRANCONA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Throw away your copy fo Money Ball! It does not work for this team. This team is not built for "clutch" play. Learn how to suck it up and bunt. Look at Jeter. He is batting 400 this month. He lays down a bunt. So now there is 1 out, man on third. You couldn't manage a little league team. Nomar.....your "heel" was hurt. So why can't you reach first base with a throw? Stop trying to get a web gem and just flip it over there like Reese. Millar why don't ou spend more time practicing then making your tv spots. You are a joke. KFC must be kicking themselves for picking you. Congrads Red Sox, you have one of the best teams on paper and are making an absolute joke of the game.
