Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys. To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August. Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night. The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ... Page 19 How is it that we get rid of a manager whose laid back "aw shucks" demeanor allowed players to drift and we replace him with someone who is arguable more hands off? Terry Francona strikes me as someone who wants to be the player's buddy. What they need is someone who can be their leader. Doug, Arlington, VA From my earlier e-mails and not to fall in line with New England PESSIMISM; TIME to rebuild. Nomar gone, Lowe gone, maybe even Manny gone??? You see these guys can't cut the mustards when it counts. Even if they make the post season, the out come will surely result in disappointment. These are not the Danny day of management, let Theo and the organization do the right thing... Back the dump truck up and unload. Huey, Albuquerque New Mexico Being a Sox fan in the Midwest, Wednesday was the first chance to see a "Damn Yankee" game on ESPN with my newborn daughter. My wife took the pictures of us wearing matching baseball caps and I repeatedly recited to my baby: "Red Sox Good, Yankees Evil." By the 8th inning my favorite Sox shirt was covered with spitup - but the sad thing was she had been asleep since the the top of the 2nd and it was my spitup from watching the game. With a new baby in the house I've been shopping around for life insurance but once an agent finds out I watch the Red Sox they won't sell me a policy because they know I'm high risk since the Sox are killing me! Joel , Iowa mccarty@ first base, infield practice, fire the manager, who is the hitting coach??? bill , new bern nc These guys are an embarassment to the sport of baseball and to the city of Boston. With the second highest payroll in the Majors, A rosterful of all-stars and world series aspirations, they have choked like many of the sox teams before them. Nomar is playing like Rey Sanchez, only with no defense, we cant field, cant hit, and free agent to be Derek "pay me my money" Lowe is pitching like he should be in the California Penal Leauge. Theo needs to shake things up lin a bad way. I have never yearned more for the start of the NFL Nick, Westford Mr. north shore from boxford you make me sick. You don't even have the stones to put your name on an anonymous email? Thanks for the refresher that the Yankes are the most storied franchise in all of sports. What are you the master of the obvious. The red sox are most compelling team in all of sports. The fans in Boston make New Yorkers look like choir boys. No one is more dedicated and passionate. Would we like to win? Absolutely. And we will. So why don't you take yourself back to that filth pit 4 hours south of Boxford and stay there, we don't want or need you here. Chip, Bradford Time to shake things up. Francona has to go. This guy is a clown. He was a bad manager before he got here and he is even worse now. Also time to cut bait with Nomar. This guy is a whining baby who cant take a little pressure. After Nomar its time to ship millar to japan where he should be playing and just flat out release Bellhorn, Lowe, Dinardo, and Crespo. This team is an absolute joke and an embarrasssment to the city of Boston. Without Ramirez and Ortiz this is a last place team. JD, Beantown Hey red sox nation there's still a lot of season left & the yanks starters are still a huge question mark.... this is just the typical June Swoon which fans from the 60's on are used to - it ain't over til Stienbrenner's fat head explodes so, GO SOX miike k, spring town formerly of Beantown I think there is nothing wrong with the sox. Keep playing the way you are. No need for changes. Oh yea...I am a YANKEE Fan. Root for a team with heart....YANKEES. Looks like another parade in the Big Apple mike, New York NY Stick a fork in them, the August choke came early this year. Only 3 weeks until Pats training camp, it'll be nice to watch a real team.
