Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys. To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August. Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night. The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ... Page 25 Everyone just calm down...I love how two losses to the Yanks, painful as they were, causes "diehards" to throw in the towel on 7/1. I forsee a late July-August run similar to Oakland's the last few years that will make us the front-runner in the wild card race, and with a few timely wins against the Yanks in our remaining 9 games (after tonight), right in the AL East Hunt. And everyone "ranting" here will be right back on the bandwagon...so fickle. Now let's go PEDRO tonight...big game... Matthew, Easton, PA This is ridiculous... I have been a die-hard Red Sox fan all of my life and I can say today that I am truly disgusted. Nomar, could you make it a little more obvious that you want out of Boston? And Mr. Francona, stop rocking back and forth on the bench and get out of Boston! That is all. Megan, Quincy, MA i would rather watch the expos practice then watch this miserable team anymore. please fire francona. ryan, north end This team is not the same as last year. They seem to play with no heart. I was at last nights game, even when they were ahead they seemed to be the walking dead. It is easy to blame this loss on Nomar like I hear many doing. Lets not forget though, this team went in to a slump long before Nomar returned to the team. Terry Francona was a bad pick for manager. Any way we can get Hargrove to salvage the season for us? CBarb, new haven Boy wonder -Theo - made the #1 mistake in all business, he believed his own press. This team OVER achieved last year and boy wonder believed it was all his doing. So he runs out and signs a bunch of average guys to BIG TIME CONTRACTS, and expects them to play with the big boys…. I’ll give him Ortiz, of course Ortiz fills the role of token black lefty playing first base. Let’s not forget that MO couldn’t play defense either, so Theo you get what you pay for, 60 unearned runs and counting………….. BO SOX observer, Greenville, SC The game really is an easy one. Hit the ball. Catch the ball. Throw the ball. Let's go back to that second one there. Catch the ball. Catch the *#^%! ball! Tim, Tempe, AZ Does anyone think Francona is better than Grady Little? If so, why did Grady Little get more out of his team?...A team with less talent than Francona's 2004 edition. And who was the brain-child that inked Francona to a 3 year deal? Joe Torre makes him look like a little league coach and the Yankees have made us look like the Bad News Bears. Jon, Chantilly, VA The biggest difference between this year and last? These guys don't play with any heart or emotion. They don't have a leader. They don't have discipline. They have nothing. Get rid of Terry, for God's sake, before its too late. Get someone in there like McKeon. I don't care if he needs a heart monitor in the dugout, get someone with some fire. Ryan, Winchester, VA I guess what is bothering me is the lack of emotion and enthusiasm from the players, they truly look like they don't care, there is no heart in their game at all!! Melissa, Suffield, CT Put Pokey at short. An idiot can see he's better than Nomar. Kevin Millar could use some time in Pawtucket.
