Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys. To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August. Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night. The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ... Page 31 This team is in total disarray. If the slide continues, maybe we should move disgruntled players (Nomar) and maybe pick up a couple of prospects. It is time to rethink the "big inning" and slugging philosophy. Offense may sell tickets, but defense still wins championships. joe , providence I look at it this way. The Red Sox falling this early in the season is good because I won't feel an obligation to devote any more time to watching them play well enough to only become runner ups - unlike the Yankee fans who will spend the next 4 months watching a team that will go on to choke in the world series, again. Jeff, Malden ha ha ha...this is perfect. This is the year fellas...this is the year!!!! Jed , Boulder, CO Come on guys, as a Yanks fan, this thing isn't over just yet. We have another whole half of the season to go, and I am sure some moves will be made, and 7 1/2 will get cut down and it will get interesting. I will say this, being at the game Tuesday night, when Sheff went yard, you could have heard a pin drop amongst the Boston people, however they all stayed until the end. Love the loyalty. Eric, Harrisburg, Pa Get rid of Nomar. He is dead weight. He is obviously washed up. He can't even throw to first base anymore. Someone needs to inspire this team - quickly! Bryan, Boston It's the Media's fault... It's Millar's hairstylists fault, It's ownerships fault for vetoing the proposal of having "A Monster Beer served at Fenway". It's Dinardo's fault for having his name in Icelandic mean "loser". It's Grady Little's fault. It's always his fault.. Enough is enough.. You wanna wake this team up Dr. Morgan. Try some shock therapy.. or shove another Dunkin Donuts Maple Sausage sandwich down Curt's mouth.. Maybe KIM & BURKS can perform CPR on this dying monster. That's right... there in RI getting lap dances at The foxy Lady from some stripper named Chloe... YOU wanna fix this team people.. DON"T GO TO THE GAMES!! Maybe a Montreal crowd a few nights at Fenway will wake up the whole organization. Take the kids to the zoo. This team sucks.. The gravestone is being chisled.. Here lies the 2004 Red Sox Born Dec 03-- Dead July 1st 2004... Steve, Boston Where do I begin??? First of all, who's the monkey interviewing Damon every day??? I'm so sick and tired of hearing him say, "we're played really well but we were just really unlucky last night .. " WTF are you talking about Johnny? Since when is a team's inability to play fundamental baseball UNLUCKY!?? Smarten UP! The second problem with this team is every key player seems to have their own agenda's this year .. All Free Agents that want to get paid for booting baseballs around. Nose-mah (are you kidding me?), Pedro (to concerned with playing grab-ass with Ortiz), the list goes on and on. . . This team really needs to take a step back and start being accountable for their own actions (Oritz ?? Ball through the glove. . come on buddy! that is an excuse a little leaguer uses) and focus on playing FUNDAMENTAL baseball. I'm not sure why Tito continues to play for the 9 run innings when your team has been hitting sub .200 with runners in scoring position ALL YEAR! Advance baserunners and start MANUFACTURING RUNS!!! It would have been nice to see Timlin mix in an offspeed pitch to Sheffield. . lets throw him 12 inside fastballs. . . SUSPECT!! Hindsight is 20-20 obviously, but Bellhorn should have been guarding the line to prevent the extra base hit - Again fundamental baseball!!!!! I can't stand watching them play this bad . .. Sorry Curt. .you didn't deserve this!! COOKNA, Bellingham Firstpitchaparra must go! Bring up Daubach. Send down Kevin Millar. Time to shake things up!!!!! John, Boston DUMP NOMAR, LOWE, Arroyo, Millar, and Francona and will the real red sox please stand up... This is a joke ... I refue to watch them the rest of the season .. they are a pathetic bunch of over paid players... I have seen little leaguers play better ERROR free baseball than these guys..... get rid of them JOSH, Medfa What does Michael Jackson and Red Sox Defense have in common? Both wear a glove on one hand for no apparent reason.
