OK Sox fans, time to vent

Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys.

To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August.

Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night.

The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ...

(transplanted Sox fan)... ...In the forum of athletics performance is what counts. I can't 'make' it happen. Management can only support its happening. The players pull the strings...fans live and die through them.

hey...can we replace the ted williams statue outside of fenway with me...or tom for that matter. one things for sure, even when we're down you can trust the PATS to win, we dont complain, we take paycuts, and the ball always goes thru the uprights when it has to. bases loaded with no outs= three men left on. that definatly doesnt get the vinatieri seal clutchness.

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one game I get to see from down here in Bolivia and they LOOOSSSEEEEE on stupid t-ball ERRORS. C'mon guys, pull it together! This is embarrassing and shamefull.

Very tough loss, looks like the Sox have no heart. Let's remember Nomar missed just about all of spring training. Maybe a winning streak will begin tonight with Pedro pitching. On the other hand, as a diehard Red Sox fan I am aware that the team ALWAYS breaks my heart. Last season was special. The Sox need to play better defense fast. Look at how Tampa Bay is playing, just proves it is not about the fat contract but about the desire the players have.

serves you right for all the crowing you did after beating us 6 of 7 early in the year. the rivaly would be more civil if you just became accustomed to being second-best. by the way, the yanks' lead over the sox is more than twice as large as any other second-place (or is that second-rate?) team in the major leagues. put that in your chowder!!

The Red Sox always seem to come charging out the gate in April and then fade in mid season. They can still rebound, it's not even the all-star break yet, but I don't see them catching the Yankees. I don't know how you guys can stay Sox fans, it must be total frustration. Thank God I was born in the bronx. -A yankees fan.

Good to see this happen to the "$money$" team. Boston thinks they can buy a winner: I hope they can't. I was very happy to see last nights error made by "fat man" David Ortiz. Baseball needs a salary cap for the Red Sox (do they have any drafted players?: it seem to me all they have is "bought" players, the (second) best team money can buy (Schillng, Ramirez, Ortiz, Damon, Martinez, Foulke, Reese...... Let's first start with won't happen. The Red Sox won't fire Francona. They have to save face for at least a year with him. Now, let's focus on what can happen. Theo, who should be sharing in the blame for assembling this softball team, must dissemble this mess ASAP. Because Nomar and Lowe are surely gone next year, the Red Sox should trade them for proscpects, particularly to replace prospects that will be needed to bring in some star quality help now. A very creative three-team mega deal or a series of big moves are needed. The Red Sox should be ashamed of what they have given to a hungry nation of loyal fans.

I caled it at hte beggining of the year. No world series this year. I've been a sox fan since 86 and going through the ups and lows I never though about giving up on this team so early in the season. Thank God that football season is right around the corner. Good-luck the rest of the season.
