Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys. To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August. Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night. The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ... Page 35 I can't take it anymore, errors, small villages left on base, a manager who would rather hug his players than get in their faces. It's time to weed out the disgruntled. Grow up Nomar. You poor thing you may only get 10 million if you keep playing like this. How will you and Mia manage?? John, Cranston, RI Can it get any worse for Red Sox Nation? Yes, it can. Imagine the Tampa Bay Devil Rays moving into second place ahead of the Sox. The way the Devil Rays are winning and the Red Sox are losing, this could happen. What to do? So many changes I don't know where to begin. Fire Terry Francona. Immediately remove Noamar from SS and replace him with Pokey Reese. Noamar should sit on the bench for the time being, and play the DH role. Do not, repeat, do not put Kevin Millar in again at first base base. Belhorn should be the permanent second baseman and until Bill Milloer returns, Kevin Youklis should play third. As always good defense and good pitching win ball games. rich, Wilton, CT This Redsox team is RUBBISH.......!!! I still cannot concieve why a $ 120 Million Team STINKS so much.....TERRY (TANK)ONA shouldn't be coaching anywhere....i'd say trade some of our so called SUPERSTARS and get someone like Pinella.....ALL THIS FRIGGIN TEAMS NEEDS IS SOME DISCIPLINE...!!! Jaimin, Boston It is painful to watch these so called professional athletes/bums make so many errors. This team will not even make the playoffs. What do you think their record would be if they had half of the errors they have now? Hey Francona BUNT THE DAMNED BALL!!!!!!!! Your statagy doesn't work. Look at the numbers. How many men have we stranded in scoring position??!!!!! ANDREW , WILMINGTON, de Give up! You can never beat Yanks or Mets.New York is just better and ALWAYS will be.The city is even better in ALL respects. Bruins only ones that can hold their own. chuck , syracuse Lazy, sloppy play is more and more a direct reflection of Francona's leadership and poor decisions as a manager. The team looks like a bunch of slobs and they're playing like it. Trade Nomar and Lowe now in order to get something in return, let Pedro go to the damn Yankees next year and fine Manny every time he jogs down the first base line.... Matt, Norwalk, CT ''i have the misfortune of being a huge sox fan living in the heart of the "evil empire", and let me tell you the feeling I had after watching last night's dreadfull loss was very reminiscant to the feeling I had after Aaron Boon'e blast last year. I mean I could have made that Buckneresque play that Ortiz booted. And allthough it is hard to complain about David's offensive production (because he does seem to be the only consistent one on the team), striking out looking with the bases jammed the inning before kind of set the tone for the rest of the game. In my mind if we don't save face with a win tonight we are in big trouble. Oh by the way, Francona, you suck. Maybe if you could get your ass off the bench once in a while and actually look like you are into the game it would help. I'd take Grady back anyday! At least we played fundamentally under him!!!!! Carmen , Albany (NY) NY understands the importance of having a dynamic gameplan, and basing each game's strategy on your opponents weaknesses, but Boston mgt doesn't understand this basic notiion. Boston must learn to sacrifice, hit-and-run, steal bases, etc. Until they learn to play the entire game, they're toast. JAKE, OSTERVILLE This is quickly turning into perhaps the most overrated major league team this season. Lackluster defense coupled with an inability by the players and manager to practice the simple fundamentals of baseball (an occasional bunt wouldn't hurt) make it the right time to pull off a major shake-up. Michael , Devonshire, NJ This sucks I am going to be a yankees fan like I should have been from the beginning!! Pete J.
