Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys. To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August. Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night. The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ... Page 43 You Sox fans are clearly too fickle to stay with your team in a pickle. Your bad attitude makes your rooting plain rude. Red Sox Nation you all make me sick-le. In Fenway I hear such bad language with children I hardly can manage. You have no trouble cursing at a mother who’s nursing till up comes my frankfurter sandwich. In April you were so bombastic and now, back to earth like elastic, you’re back with a jolt, to the Patriots bolt, and “Trade Nomar!” scream you, all spastic. I’ll stick with my beloved Yankees, while you all cry into your hankies. When umpires call now its time to “Play ball,” they don’t choke like your Red Sox stankies. L.D., Ashland Thank You Red Sox Job well done. My husband is in the military and we're stuck in the middle of hell. The only thing that we look foward to is watching the Red Sox together. maybe next time the sox are on Instead of watching the dissapointment we'll go and milk a cow.. Thank God for the Patriots! Stacy , Fort Hood Texas Red Sox Nation quit whining!!! We didn't hear all this in April when you swept us. Now just t ake you medicine!! charles, brookly, ny When one player underperforms it's the players fault, when the whole team underperforms it's the MANAGER's FAULT. Francona seems to let everybody do what they want. There is no spark or team unity. There is no discipline. He keeps saying they are big boys, but that only works when they are winning. When they're losing you have to change tact and clamp down the screws. I'd give Francona another month and then make a change. Chris D, OP Ks How pathetic is it that we are 6-3 against the Yankees this year (soon to be 6-4...), yet we are 7 1/2 games behind them in the AL east!!! They will be looking up at the Yankees and Devil Rays soon enough. Buzz, New Jersey Red Sox will never win with Francona - they are undisciplined, grubby and don't care. Just look at the professional appearance of the hated Yankees and see the difference that discipline and image make. gerald , olyphant, pa. 18447 Terry Francona! When he was hired I truly thought he would work out, that Epstein, Henry, and others were knowledgeable enough to know what qualities were needed to 'right the ship,' and help the fans heal from the misery inflicted by Grady Little. I can't believe it! Francona appears to be Grady's long missing twin. He doesn't bunt, he creates a bizarre pitching rotation that throws an "iffy" knuckleballer in the middle of his two best pitchers, he won't use his best defensive first baseman, he won't "shake" up the team, and worst of all, won't admit to his mistakes. He wants to be a friend to the players, above all else, and this will most surely lead to his downfall. Red Sox fans are far too wise, have been hurt far too long, to stand for this. Terry is not what we need, and Theo, although his heart is certainly in the right place, is just too young and inexperienced by virture of his youth, to make the right decisions. Not getting A-Rod, after coming so close, and to watch him go to New York, is indefensible and not at all understandable. Long live the Patriots. September, and football, cant' get here quickly enough. The Sox have made us suckers again! Philip , Pittsfield Some players are clowning around, the manager is in a coma, and the Sox brass can't pull the trigger - Beltran & Garcia. I believe it's time to shake things up. It's got to start with the Sox brass. Wake up Francoma! This group is in lala land. Bunt, sac, run. Play fundametal ball and make a decision once in awhile Francoma! This is a dead ass team. Very hard to watch. I feel like a slowly fading away to Francoma land! Rich, Fairfield, CT Calm Down Sox Fans.... As a die hard fan I am as frustrated as anyone else...it's still early. Getting down on the team is not the right thing to do...getting pissed at Francona is. The guy is horrible...seems like he is just trying to make friends with the team. In any business a boss needs to be a boss, not a pal.
