Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys. To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August. Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night. The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ... Page 48 I think the team needs a big shakeup. I'd start with Nomar. He's not happy with Boston, he's not playing worth a hoot and it would send a strong message to the whole team that anybody can be replaced. Aldo , Winchester Hi : My thoughts are before the start of the season is when things fell apart. Ownership made a big mistake . They lost thier loyalties from players by not trading or not signing anyone. Players are human just like anyone, they give you 100 percent, and expect 100 percent . Last year the team was and played like one unit nothing rattled them. Today it's like everyman for them self still uncertain about the future, beleive me this is no way to do a good job. The diffrence between the Sox's and the Yankee's is everything is strait forward their needs, goals, expectations and this gains respect with determanation. Strengh in Management will need to come first and everything will fall in place. Thanks Phillip Kollett Jr Phillip , Oxnard California Trying to be pragmatic about the situation it is obvious that whatever fundamentally ails this organization was not expunged during the off season. The reality is the Red Sox organization, not unlike the whole of baseball, has serious deep rooted, problems e.g. lack of parity, prima donna players, greedy owners, etc. However, unlike many other teams, the Sox have the most dedicated yet beaten down fans. Fortunately for me I grew up elsewhere before moving to New England and only have to observe their pain. They deserve better. What are they getting for their high price tickets? Nothing short of abuse. I encourage all Sox fans to start boycotting the games. Get the players and owners attention. Honestly, if this was Saddam's Iraq the owners and players would minimally be tortured. Gary, Enfield, CT I could only wish they move the team far away so that I wouldn't care anymore, Portland Oregon Red Sox-who cares. They have broken my heart too many times. I dont want to subject my children to my life long woes. Go pats Chris, Charlotte NC I'm really tired of today's million-dollar athletes who constantly whine about this or that. Hello! You're a millionaire getting paid to play a game you're supposed to love! Must be rough. What's most aggravating is that some of these players don't come to play everyday. This year's Sox is a prime example – no need to elaborate. I don't get it. I played baseball through college and almost every player I knew would've signed a pro contract for a box of popcorn – myself included. Something to think about. I believe the first part of winning is actually trying to win. Stop concentrating on things outside of your control like the management. Play the game. This is a good Sox team, and although they say they know it, they really don’t. They’re not concentrating on playing. Once they do, you’ll see a lot more W’s. Oh, and as for Coach Fran., he needs to start acting like a coach, not like the “I’m the players’ buddy” assistant coach. Red Sox Nation is looking for a strong front man, Terry. We need you now. Kaelan, Somerville Francona seems more like "one of the guys" then an actual authoritative presence, i.e., Manager... He's a joke!! No bunting?! No hit-and-run?! NO STRATEGY??!!! C'mon now... what's he doing in Boston then? Posing as a manager until a real one comes around?? Sooo frustrating....... Rich G, los angeles, ca The Red Sox are a mess.Their starting piching outside of Pedro and Shilling stink. Their defense, last in baseball is not the players fault. They have players playing out of position and Nomar's defense has in my opinion always been bad. He gets to balls but then throws them away. Now he is making errors on routine plays. Take a look at the last five years and the amount of errors he has made. Terry Francona is a joke of a manager. He doesn't have a clue on how to manage a game nerver mind disipline his players. The Sox need a manager in the mold of Lou Pinella, of course that would necessitate a change in the country club atmosphere the Sox have enjoyed all these years. kenneth , Mesa, Az. OK to all you NY fans. Lets see if any of your football teams can beat the Patriots! Ha,ha. All joking aside, wow! I can`t believe these letters. There`s a lot of bitterness, anger, and pain going on right now. Normally, i`d be totally ticked off myself, and would have had thoughts of throwing the t.v threw the window. But for some weird reason, I feel totally at peace? Maybee it`s kind of like the feeling of peace you get before you pass on from this life into the next? Like ,when you know its over and accepted it. Or over for your team? Or maybee because its not over? I`m sure the players aren`t doing this on purpose. I`m sure the players would like to win a world series as bad as we want them to? How would you do at your job if every time you made a mistake, everyone started screaming for your head? Granted if you made as many mistakes as they have, with their salaries, you should get fired. Ok, let me try a differen`t approach. Remember in the 80`s when the Celtics and Lakers battled in the finals and all you fans showed up with, "we believe "signs? How would the sox players respond if you did that for them at your next home games? Why don`t you try it? And get behind them. I`m betting they`ll respond with a bunch of wins. I know they don`t have enough team speed, defense, base stealing, bunting capabilities to win. But if they start whacking the ball like crazy again, anything can happen. And lastly, we have a lot to be thankful for, especially having a superbowl team.I`m sure NY would love to have a superbowl team, but they don`t. Focus on your haves, instead of your have nots. It will make you feel better. That ends my therapy session for today.
