OK Sox fans, time to vent

Talk about a June swoon. We can't think of two worse back-to-back losses than the ones the Red Sox suffered Tuesday and Wednesday nights, simply dreadful. Terry Francona seems to be making all the wrong decisions and players are fielding like they've got "Chico's Bail Bonds" ironed on the back of their jerseys.

To make matters worse, these losses were to the Yankees, and dropped Boston 7½ games behind New York in the AL East, the largest deficit since Grady Little's crew fell that low last August.

Things don't appear to be getting any better, either. The Sox were 11-14 in the month of June, and may have lost setup man Scott Williamson with an elbow injury Wednesday night.

The doctor isn't in, but feel free to sit on our couch and vent your feelings on the Sox. Can they turn this around? How? What are they doing wrong? Is this Francona's fault, or does the blame lie higher up the chain with Theo and the Trio? Or are the players to blame? Trade Nomar? Acquire a first baseman? Bring back Grady? It's open season ...

These losses hurt, especially because they are to the evil empire, and catapult us 1 game back each instead of a 1/2 game. Tito, you are ruining my summer with your coddling of these players. The local 9 are capable of more, and you need to find a way to extract that talent while actively managing the game. You are the Manager, right? If you achieve nothing else during your stay in the Evil Empire, I recommend you watch the way Torre leads his sqaud, maybe you'll learn that you don't need to be everyone's friend. Do your job and stop pandering to the players.

FIRE FRANCONA!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Sox need a change, put McCarty at 1st...give him a chance!

Chris, Boston

Ortiz makes the last out in the 7th why isnt McCarty playing first base then. Why pitch to Sheffield with a base open he never strikes out , payrod strikes out a lot plus if you walk sheffield you set up a double play provided somebody can catch the ball

I am a Phillies fan, not a Red Sox fan, but I just wanted to say that from past experience, that Terry Francona is one of the worst managers in Major League Baseball. In four years with the Phillies he never even sniffed .500. In 2000 the Phillies nearly lost 100 games in what was thankfully Francona's final season. Larry Bowa took over in 2001and with less talent (It was the same team, minus Curt Schilling) had the Phillies in contention until the final weekend. Terry Francona, as a manager, tries to be the players friend. He notoriously took part in clubhouse card games in Philadelphia. When a guy needs a good kick in the year end, don't count on "everyones friend" Francona giving it to them. David Wytovich Lancaster, PA

As a baseball fan, I had gradually hated the Yankees more and found myself cheering for the Red Sox. After seeing a game at Fenway this past spring, I considered myself a Red Sox fan....I thought. After last night's loss, I felt utterly digusted. NOW I have become a bona fide, baptized-by-disappointment Red Sox fan.

There is a point in nearly every Sox season where you can see that all the hopes and expectations that bloomed 10 feet tall in March were really just cruel window dressing hiding the elephant man-esque horror that is Red Sox Reality. Every year I get all charged up over the Sox, and every year they grab me by the feet and beat my brains out on the ground. 2003 was especially painful because we were able to carry our hope through the ALCS, which is nearly to the promised land... and yet our annaul brainbashing was waiting for us nonetheless. Perhaps we should be thanking the Sox for tanking so early, so maybe our summers will be filled with other pasttimes... we all know my wiffle-slurve needs a lot of work. But I can help but feel cheated by the Sox in that I have done my part as a fan to tirelessly follow the team and take emotional beating after beating, whereas all they have to do is simply play a game they were born to play. I'll take the beatings, just so long as the boys play their tails off. When you see performances like the last two games... well, someone's not holding up their end of the deal, and it ain't THIS GUY. As far as silver linings, we haven't reached the Break yet, so there's time to revive these dead-from-the-neck-up lollygaggers... but how likely is it that the Sox rebound AND the Yankees tank it? I won't hold my breath...

Fire francona we have the team but no motivation

Fire Terry Francona! I never liked him from day 1. He seems like a dummy. With all the errors the infield is making, I was very surprised to hear on the pregame show that Francona doesn't have infield practice. FIRE THE #@#@#!!!
