No more Nomar

The Sox have shipped Nomar to the Cubs in a four-team deal and ended up with shortshop Orlando Cabrera and first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz. Are the Sox better off?

Nomar is a lame duck and did not bring anything to the table . The soxs did great getting some players who want to play ball.good luck to some one is in love with himself.

This also mean I won't have to watch Nomar do that stupid thing with his gloves every time he's at bat!!!! If the man can't make sure his gloves are on right by the time he gets to the batter's box, he can't be that bright. Good Riddance

It hurts when it's a guy who came up through the system, these guys are special. That's the one thing the Sox always had over the Yanks: It was our farm players against their free agents. Yaz, Fisk, Evans, Rice, Clemens, Hurst, Boggs, Vaughn, Nixon, and Nomar against Reggie, Nettles, Piniela, Chamblis, Henderson, Winfield, Giambi, A-Rod, Sheffield, Mussina, Brown. And what they got for Nomar was two guys hitting .246. These guys aren't young prospects either. I was one of the guys pushing for A-Rod. But that was the best in the League for Nomar ... this hurts on 2 levels; One of our core guys is gone and we got nothing for him

At the end of the day, the Sox are probably better off. But it's unfortunate they had to sell Nomar at an all-time low, for two .246 hitters -- no matter how good their gloves are. Either way, it shouldn't matter, the Red Sox still spend 4 times more money on players than most of their competitors.

It was time to Trade Nomar - It was so obvious that his heart was NOT into helping us win - so good luck to him elsewhere - however, I hope we got comparable talent - I will be looking forward to seeing both of these new players do their thing. It could be a real shot in the arm for us - we need it

How does trading a golden glove shortstop hitting .321 for two players both hitting below .250 help? I always thought in baseball it was quality and not quantity since you can only field 9 players

I'm glad because I have always hated his perchant for the first pitch swinging. I have recently disliked his attitude.

Absolutely NOT!! this has got to be the worst trade that Theo has done so far. If they had to trade Nomar then they definitely should have gotten more for him. Crazy!!!

Great! Now sign Varitek, get a pitcher & players that win World Serie's

This is a good trade if: 1. The team makes the playoffs as a result of improved defense.
