No more Nomar

The Sox have shipped Nomar to the Cubs in a four-team deal and ended up with shortshop Orlando Cabrera and first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz. Are the Sox better off?

This is the sadest day in Red Sox land.

Troy, Brooklin, Maine

Theo butchered this one. The improvements defensively will be far outweighed by the offensive sacrifice they just suffered. Not to mention Nomar is one of the only guys that came up thru the red sox organization. He was the most popualr player of the last two decades and never gave less than a 100%. It's a sad day for the Nation.

George , Tampa

Speed, defense and pitching have consistently been what wins championships. I LOVE Nomar but this team was going nowhere with him. 65 or so un earned runs has killed this team. Something had to be done and this will help. Remember, Nomar not going to be here next year anyway. I just pray they play small ball with this lineup and use their new found speed.

Brian , Bellingham

Hell no! You've go to be kidding me!! Morons!

Jarrod F, Rutland

It is a sad day in Boston. Theo has garenteed Red Sox Nation that we will not be in the playoffs this year. There is no forgivness for trading Nomah. Nomah take care of yourself in Chicago, we wish you the best and thank you.

Jacob, Newburyport

Why is everyone saying the Sox got two average players for? They picked up two great players. Has anyone been watching this team in the field? They were horrible. Also the Nation should realize this guy didn't want to be here. He was walking at the end of the season and the Sox would have got nothing. People should check out the overall stats for these two players over the last 3 years. Cabrera is playing for a terrible team and he is special in the field. Come on folks this is a good deal. Wake up.

Jay , Clearwater Florida

How can you trade NOMAR???? He's a great team leader and a good sport. This is one more bad trade for a bad trade franchise.

Jeremy, Brea, CA

GREAT TRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally we can play some infield defense.....long overdue....defense and pitching wins championships boys and girls....peace...

Vince, Niagara Falls, Canada

Since Nomar and Mia started being an item, his playing and batting went down hill. He wasn't going to sign with the Red Sox anyways, so they got what they could for him. Good Trade!
