Nomar should have been more acceptable to staying with the Sox. He now can join the likes of Fred Lynn and Mo Vaughn who went for the dollars, rejected the Sox and whose careers were never the same. Under the circumstance the deal is the best they could get. The team is much better defensively and got rid of a pouting player who was leaving in 2 months anyway.

There really must be something in the water that affects Boston general manager's and makes them dumb as dirt! Nomar has done nothing in all his years in Boston but give everything he's got to this team and be a class act. God forbid we actually keep a player like that. Luchino and Henry need to dump Epstein and Francona and work on getting Nomar back where he belongs or they can say goodbye to their home sellout streak!

Well, Half the city has been screaming trade Nomar for months now. I hope those schmucks are happy. To Theo and the Upper management, You really know how to make a Red Sox fan since '84 a Yankees Fan. The Sox will do NOTHING in the Playoffs, IF they even make the playoffs.

This deal is absolutely horrible! My only hope is that Nomar gets to win the World Series with another team and comes back to gloat in front of boy wonder, Theo Epstein! Best of luck to you, Nomar; you will be deeply missed by this former Red Sox fan!

Theo has got to go. I always thought it was a lot to ask a thirty something GM to play with the big boys, well unfortunately his lack of experience just cost us the best shortstop ever to wear a Red Sox unform for guys who are only household names in their own houses. What happened to the pitcher we need? What happened th the right fielder. No, we got Pokey Reese and David McCarhy, again!!! Sorry to say it their is no substitute for experience.

The defense was LOUSY! Sure, would rather have had a pitcher but I doubt any were available. Better to trade him now and get something than to let him walk at the end of the year and...he was going to walk because he was not going to get the money he wanted. And let's face it, Nomar has had a couple of serious injuries. He did a great job while he was here and never "dogged it." We were lucky to have him. From the business point of view this had to be done. It is similar to a move the Patriots would have made. Drew who?

Take it from a Red Wings fan who watched another aloof and popular player walk from his team in Sergei Fedorov -- the Sox had to get something for him because it was painfully obvious Nomar was finished with the Sox. Had Nomar walked at the end of the season for nothing, we'd all have blamed Theo for not making a move at the deadline. Not to mention at least they have a decent defensive infield now, something they've lacked for a long time. What a strange time we live in when Manny Ramirez shows more professionalism than Nomar Garciaparra. However, this does rank up there with Clemens and Vaughn in heart-wrenching personnel moves.

Two things. One Nomar was unhappy semi-injured and not playing to his capabilities very often. Two Cabrera and Mientkiewicz provide defense they sorely lack at their respective positions. We get Pokey back soon and our pitching gets better because defense is better... its a win win...
