nomar is damaged goods, and i believe he was out of here as a FA anyway. cabrera is a good player and cheaper, and is pretty solid defensively. i like pokey, belhlorn (A power surprise w/ 13 bombs), cabrera, mink, and gutierrez. good defensive IF all around. Lowe post-trade looks to be getting more ground ball outs. hopefully get his head in there a bit more and be able to RELAX!

I was laughing my but off at my friends here in FL when Ricky Williams retired. Now, they are laughing at me, since the Sox reduced any chances they had a making the playoffs when they traded Nomar.

We all know what will happen as a result of this trade. The shored-up defense will be the difference, and the Red Sox will get to the World Series. In Chicago, Nomar will lead the Cubs to the World Series. In the seventh game, Nomar will hit a walk-off home run in the ninth, giving the Cubs the victory. The "Curse of Nomar" will keep the pundits punditing and Red Sox fans crying into their beer for the next century.

If the Sox knew that they had no chance to resign Nomar, then it was an ok move. However, it's my belief that Nomar should have retired as a Redsox player.

I'm going to miss Nomar sooooo much! He is the one who got me to start watching the Red Sox and now I want to play for them some day. It was Nomar who got me to fall in love with baseball and the Red Sox. I always said that it would be so stupid to trade Nomar and I can't believe they actually did! Whenever you think of the Red Sox, the first thing that comes to mind is Nomar Garciaparra!! I can't believe they traded him!! I'm sooooo shocked!!

Seeing Nomar go is inviting the curse to live. Nomar is one guy that appears to give it his all both in season and off season. He is a guy that has the potential to break .400 for a season. You heard it hear first. Mark my words, next year he is going to pull a Clemens on us and we will be regretting this day. I hope the man gets on a team that gives him a ring. Good Trade - Cabrera is a far better defensive SS and can steal more bases than Nomar can evern dream of he'll be a lot cheaper and just as good as Nomar which will allow the Sox to sign Tek and Pedro. Doug M. is an added bonus. What has Nomar done since wrist sugery?????????????????????

For the second straight year, Epstein has blown it. Not so much by trading Garciaparra-he'd already busted that relationship- but by including the Sox top prospect. Matt Murton projects legitimately as a power hitting outfielder with serious pop: 25 - 35 homers a year with a .370 OBP. He is a terrific prospect, and Epstein has given him away like loose change. He needs to learn to value prospects, and for that matter, the concept of "team".
