Great trade, gives us the defense we needed and a healthy shortstop. Good riddance to Nomar, he was leaving at the end of the year anyways.

No one is better off: Nomar, the Red Sox or especially the fans. Just another example of the rent-a-stiff concept of free agency. It's all about making a lotta bucks on the part of players and owners. No loyality on either side. And the fans just keep getting sucker in. It is all that is wrong with professional sports. I'll just support BU hockey and leave the pros for someone else. It is quite a contrast to see Johnny Pesky still in the dugout.

Nomar was a liability on team ruining its chemistry. At least we got a shortstop and first baseman and an outfielder for him as it was obvious he hated management.

I like both the Cubs and the Red Sox... no question that the Cubs got the better of this deal. Not sure why the Sox gave up on 2004 so soon... but then, this is the organization that fired Grady LIttle because his best pitcher gave up an unlucky pop-up in Game 7 of the ALCS.
