First off, it’s hard to feel bad for anybody that turns down a four year/ $60 million dollar contract. Nomar’s reputation as hard working aggressive, leave everything on the field seems like a distant memory in light of the long term nursing of a possible phantom injury and recent poor attitude. And I think the picture most “intelligent” Sox fans will have is the one of Nomar sitting by himself, BY HIMSELF, in the dugout against the Yankees a month ago. Kirk Gibson limped to the plate only 15 years ago (yes, I know the World Series is a bit different but the underlying point remains) if you can stand you can pinch hit. Especially if you’re an “All Star” We’re sorry that we tried to trade you for the best player in baseball. We truly apologize. Do you want a hug before you head to Chi-town? To sum it up, see ya Nomar, we’ll hardly miss ya! P.S.- Try to improve on last post seasons effort. Because if you repeat that performance they’ll (the Cubby Faithful) will post your face on the body off the “goat”. And that will truly send you over the edge!!

Nomar was a blossoming star, and became a star, but he never seemed to reach the stardom that we expected him to with the red sox. I thought he had the ability to hit 400. Now I think that he is on the downward slope with injuries, etc.

There is only one thing that can be said about this whole ordeal: it is wrong! Going to the park and not hearing Nomar's name doesnt feel right. This trade was a big mistake by the Sox management, and I'm sure we will all regret it in the coming days. Nomar is a great player, an equally great guy, and he will be missed.

I Remember a Game On TV on June,12,2003 He got an Triple and RBI's against The NL's Central St Louis Cardinals at Fenway,Home runs on His Birthday was Memorable and the 2003 ALCS he kept going to Third and a error made by the Yankees he scored the 5th run. Good Luck Nomar In Chicago!

What the hell were you thinking, Theo? Oh, he's malcontented, he fails to brownnose the media and the front office...Who gives a @#@#$! I'll take a clubhouse cancer, .330 hitter over a sunny, happy journeyman hitting his weight. "Pitching and defense win championships...", well, guess what- emphasis on the pitching! If this was for Johnson or even Loaiza I could see it, but for virtually nothing, no way. Shameful.

It's just all so very sad the way that his relationship with management deteriorated so sharply over the last year or two. It also suggests that, though Theo and company have made some good moves, there is still something awry with the way the Sox handle their star players. Why is it that star players never "walk" from the Yankees?

Seeing him get a standing O at Wrigley made the hair stand up on my arms.

we've always admired the red sox here in chicago. your players pay with flare, spirit and emotion. nomar, pedro, jason, johnnie, mannie, kurt, bill mueller - prime time +. in my 40 years as a cub fan, i cannot remember a more exiting trade. nomar is a classy player, baseball royalty and we hope we can keep him in wrigley for a long time. having nomar here doesn't guarantee anything but it is clearly an infusion of hope and excitement for our team. we actually did the seemingly (to us) undoable - getting a top 10 player at mid season! this should be fun; it will definitely be interesting.

My favorite Nomar memory was when he was wearing No. 5 in a Red Sox uniform at SS. The worst part is that I have to make that statement in the past tense!!!!!! All I know is that there aren't too many players like Nomar and we just let him go. This will go down as the new Sox managements "Twilight of his career" move.
