Before greeting old friend Scott Sauerbeck with a home run on the lefty’s sole pitch of the evening last night, David Ortiz hoofed it to his offseason home in Wisconsin, where he filmed an AT&T commercial with Deion Sanders. The spot, airing in June, “will give web surfers a chance to tour his house online,” according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.
In the spot, Sanders bets Ortiz a dollar that he can’t find the flour in the kitchen, borrowing the cash for the ad from local columnist Tony Walter. Sanders never gave the buck back.
I don’t know what’s funnier, that Sanders pocketed the dollar, or that between two multi-million dollar athletes and a filming production crew, not one of them had a dollar, resorting to borrowing money from a newspaper columnist. That's like asking the guy looking for money outside of Dunkin' Donuts for some change so you don't have to break a bill.
