Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira will have season-ending surgery on his right wrist. The Yankees said Wednesday that the Teixeira had an MRI with dye contrast and that the team physician and three other New York-based hand specialists determined the torn tendon sheath had not adequately healed. Recovery time for the surgery is projected at six months. Teixeira was hurt while hitting off a tee March 5, when he was with the US team at the World Baseball Classic . . . Brian Cashman says he regrets the words he used in an angry response to Alex Rodriguez’s injury update on Twitter.
