SportsLog: Dodger’s Matt Kemp to miss postseason

The Los Angeles Dodgers will open the NL division series in Atlanta on Thursday without center fielder Matt Kemp and possibly Andre Ethier. Kemp will miss the entire postseason because of swelling in a bone in his sprained left ankle. Ethier’s status won’t be known until the team works out on Tuesday. He has been sidelined with shin splints. The Dodgers won the NL West mostly without Kemp, who has been plagued by injuries this season . . . Righthander Mat Latos has a bone chip causing pain in his elbow and will be unavailable to pitch for the Cincinnati Reds’ wild-card playoff game Tuesday in Pittsburgh . . . Joe Girardi did not say whether he will return as Yankees manager but he said it won’t take him long to decide his future.
