Arizona stays No. 1 while UMass drops eight spots to No. 21 in AP poll

Arizona and Syracuse remained 1-2 in Monday’s Associated Press college basketball poll for the eighth consecutive week while Massachusetts dropped eight spots to No. 21 after suffering its first conference loss of the season to Richmond. The Wildcats (20-0) are again a runaway No. 1, receiving 63 first-place votes Monday from the 65-member national media panel. The Orange (19-0) got the other No. 1 votes. Florida jumped from sixth to third while Wichita State (21-0), the other undefeated Division 1 team, moved up one spot to fourth . . . Northeastern moved up to 10th in the USCHO.com men’s national college hockey poll, cracking the top 10 for the first time since finishing No. 6 at the end of the 2008-09 season.
