ESPN host Keith Olbermann, who admits he is not a fan of Erin Andrews, came to her defense in the face of some acerbic remarks from a Boston sports radio host.

Dennis & Callahan co-host Kirk Minihane was featured on Olbermann’s daily “World’s Worst Person in Sports” segment Wednesday night.

Olbermann professes not to know who Minihane is, describing him as “a derelict of some kind who appears on a Boston radio car wreck called the Dennis & Callahan morning show, evidently to make hosts Gerry Callahan and John Dennis seem less psychotic.”

Olbermann runs down the basic plot of the Minihane controversy, from Minihane calling FOX reporter Erin Andrews a “gutless bitch” a week ago to saying if Andrews “weighed 15 pounds more she’d be a waitress at Perkins,” upon his return to the airwaves. During his rant, Olbermann admits he is not a fan of Andrews before coming to her defense in this case. WEEI has said that Minihane will not be punished for his remarks, something Olbermann disagrees with.

“It’s ironic, because after WEEI radio and NESN television have to fire this guy, who can’t go 10 seconds after apologizing for making a sexist insult before making another sexist insult against the same woman—which they now have to do they have to fire him—he’ll be lucky if he finds work at the Perkins.”

(And by “the Perkins,” we’re reasonably sure Olbermann means the restaurant chain.)

In a phone conversation with Boston.com Thursday, Minihane declined to answer questions on the record about Andrews and the Olbermann segment.
