Durant feels at home in Portland

Kevin Durant worked out with the Portland Trail Blazers yesterday, two days after Greg Oden, as both players show their talents to the team with the top draft pick. Durant, a 6-foot-9-inch forward out of Texas, said: "I feel good here. Like I belong here." Said Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard: "That was as impressive a workout as any I've seen in here." . . . Meanwhile, Oden didn't work out while meeting with the SuperSonics, on the advice of his agent. "I just wanted to get a good feel for the organization," Oden said. The low-key Seattle trip was essentially a fallback visit, in case the Trail Blazers surprise many people and take Durant first . . . The agent for the Minnesota Timberwolves' Troy Hudson said he called owner Glen Taylor to say the point guard would like to play elsewhere next season. "It's not like I demanded a trade or anything," Bill Neff said. "It's just time to move on." . . . Grizzlies coach Marc Iavaroni filled out his staff by hiring former NBA head coach Johnny Davis, veteran NBA assistant coach Gordon Chiesa, and the NBADL's David Joerger . . . Phoenix Mercury general manager Ann Meyers Drysdale was named to the inaugural class of the International Basketball Federation Hall of Fame. Meyers Drysdale, who took over the WNBA team after last season, was one of four women and three Americans named. Ceremonies are scheduled for Sept. 12 in Madrid. The other Americans are North Carolina coach Dean Smith and former Boston Celtics center Bill Russell.

Vick golf tournament postponed
A charity golf tournament featuring Michael Vick, intended to raise scholarships in memory of Virginia Tech's shooting victims, was rescheduled for September. The tournament in Williamsburg, Va., was supposed to begin yesterday; a reason for the change was not announced. This is the latest in a series of appearances either canceled or delayed since the Atlanta Falcons quarterback's name surfaced in a dogfighting investigation . . . Suspended NFL player Adam "Pacman" Jones surrendered to face charges in a Las Vegas strip club melee that preceded a triple shooting. The Tennessee Titans cornerback was released on $20,000 bail . . . Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson was pulled over for speeding in Gilbert, Ariz., and police said they drew blood from the player to determine whether he was drunk. Johnson already is suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 NFL season after violating probation on a gun violation.

Seven named to UMass Hall of Fame
Seven former athletes will be inducted into the University of Massachusetts Athletic Hall of Fame as the class of 2007 in October. They are: Bill DeFlavio (class of 1973, football), Patrick Flaherty ('72, ice hockey), Rene Ingoglia ('96, football), Michele Leary ('90, swimming), Patty Shea ('84, field hockey), James "Brooks" Sweet ('80, lacrosse), and Paul Wennik ('62, baseball) . . . Jada Pierce brings 10 years of experience to UMass in her new post as assistant women's basketball coach . . . Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley, 54, who hired basketball coach Billy Donovan and football coach Urban Meyer, has agreed to an 11-year deal worth up to $1.2 million annually with bonuses, making him the highest-paid AD in the country.

Ljubicic reaches Ordina final
Ivan Ljubicic reached the final of the Ordina Open in Den Bosch, Netherlands, beating Julien Benneteau, 7-6 (7-1), 3-6, 6-4, in the Wimbledon tuneup. The other semifinal, between Peter Wessels and Antony Dupuis, will be completed today. Jelena Jankovic beat Dinara Safina, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6) and will play Anna Chakvetadze in the women's final . . . Arnaud Clement and Ivo Karlovic will meet in the final of the Nottingham (England) Open.

American tabbed to helm Alinghi
American Ed Baird was selected as helmsman of America's Cup defender Alinghi of Switzerland for today's opening race against Emirates Team New Zealand in Valencia, Spain. New Zealand won the coin toss and will have the advantageous starboard side for each odd-numbered race . . . Thierry Henry is leaving Arsenal to sign with Barcelona in one of European soccer's major transfers of the offseason. Barcelona will pay $32 million for the forward, 29, who agreed to a four-year contract, Cadena Ser radio and the newspaper El Pais said . . . Jockey Victor Molina, who kicked his horse in the stomach Monday after losing his cool, was not notified if he will face punishment following a hearing before Philadelphia Park officials.
