Thomas leads Ansonia to 35-0 rout of New London and Class S title

WEST HAVEN, Conn.—Alex Thomas ran for 240 yards and three touchdowns, as Ansonia routed New London 35-0 Saturday for the the CIAC Class S football championship.

Ansonia (13-0) won their state-record 16th state title behind Thomas, who carried the ball on 54 or Ansonia's 63 offensive plays. Quarterback Ron Bilodeu completed 3-of-5 passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

The Whalers (11-1) were held to 91 yards on offense.
