Point guard Jason Kidd says he wants to be traded from the slumping New Jersey Nets. "We tried to make this work. We've found out it doesn't," Kidd told ESPN The Magazine. "It's time for us all to move on." Nets president Rod Thorn said he hadn't talked to Kidd yesterday, and declined to discuss which teams have expressed an interest in the nine-time All-Star. Thorn added that with the development of second-year guard Marcus Williams as Kidd's backup, the Nets would probably not require a point guard to be part of any deal for Kidd . . . Warriors executive vice president Chris Mullin said that free agent forward Chris Webber had signed a contact with the team, but did not release details of the deal . . . Hall of Fame Game done after this year
Nearly 70 years after the tradition began, the Baseball Hall of Fame Game at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, N.Y., will end after this year's game between the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres June 16. Officials at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum said Major League Baseball decided keeping the game was too difficult because of the complexities of the major league schedule. The first Hall of Fame Game was played in 1940 . . . Jim Rice is among 27 people to be inducted into the International League Hall of Fame. Rice, the last IL player to win the triple crown when he did it in 1974, will be inducted with former Pawtucket Red Sox owner Ben Mondor and manager Joe Morgan . . . NESN announced that Tina Cervasio, who joined the network in 2006 and served as the Red Sox game-day reporter, will leave when her contract expires in March.College basketball
Bentley remains No. 1 in Division 2 poll
The Bentley men's basketball team remained No. 1 in the NABC/Division 2 coaches poll. The Falcons (18-0), who have won 45 straight regular-season games, play at Merrimack tonight . . . Missouri basketball coach Mike Anderson suspended five players indefinitely after a weekend brawl left his top scorer with a broken jaw. Suspended are guard Jason Horton and forwards Marshall Brown, Darryl Butterfield, and Leo Lyons. They were present when senior guard Stefhon Hannah was attacked outside a Columbia nightclub early Sunday morning. Hannah, who also was suspended, could miss the rest of the season because of the injury . . . Oregon athletic director Pat Kilkenny apologized to UCLA for the rude behavior of Ducks fans toward Bruins freshman Kevin Love and his family during last Thursday's game. The Loves were the target of homophobic chants and signs with offensive messages, some of which were confiscated. "It was pretty bad and I heard a lot of stuff," Love said.

Campo rejoining Cowboys as assistant
Former Cowboys coach Dave Campo rejoined the staff, returning to his roots as the secondary coach. Dallas went 5-11 in each of Campo's three seasons as head coach before he was replaced by Bill Parcells in 2002 . . . Make that record number of Pro Bowl players for the Cowboys 13, not 12. Linebacker Greg Ellis became the latest addition when he was selected to replace Chicago's Lance Briggs on the NFC team. Chargers left tackle Marcus McNeill was added to the AFC squad, replacing Ravens tackle Jonathan Ogden . . . An arbitrator ruled in favor of the Philadelphia Eagles last Friday on a grievance filed by the NFL players' union on Terrell Owens's behalf in 2005. The union disputed the Eagles' effort to recover $1.725 million of the $2.3 million signing bonus the team paid the wide receiver after he was kicked off the team seven games into the 2005 season for a series of infractions . . . Former NFL player Alonzo Spellman was arrested after Tulsa, Okla., police fired pepper-spray pellets into his car following a nearly 20-minute pursuit. PGA's new cut policy facing review
The PGA Tour debated for several years whether to reduce the number of players on the weekend. Less than a month into the new policy that has caused such consternation, it's about to be reviewed. The new policy allows for the top 70 and ties to make the cut, the way it has been since 1969. But if that results in more than 78 players, then the closest number to 60 advance to the weekend, and the rest go home with last-place money. PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said the Player Advisory Council will revisit the policy next month . . . Sunday's NHL All-Star Game on Versus drew a .8 rating, up 14 percent from the .7 last season. The game drew 796,717 viewers . . . Andy Roddick and James Blake will lead the defending champion United States against Austria in the first round of the Davis Cup. The top-ranked doubles team of Bob and Mike Bryan also will return for the US when it takes on Austria in Vienna Feb. 8-10 . . .
