Boston sports radio personality Glenn Ordway, host of WEEI 850 AM's popular "Big Show" afternoon program, announced today on the air that he is taking time off to be with his wife and newborn child, both of whom are ailing.
Ordway said there were complications with the delivery of his daughter late last week that caused significant injury to both his wife and newborn baby.
"It's important at this time for me to devote all my time, and all of my energy in helping my wife, and helping my baby get healthy," Ordway said.
Ordway said he would inform listeners directly of any significant updates on his family situation.
"To all our friends our there, to all our colleagues who have been aware of our situation, have reached out to send along their kind words and blessings, you have no idea how much that has added to our support system," Ordway said.
He called in to the radio station to make the on-air announcement at around 2:30 p.m.
