Harrison Frazar shot a 13-under-par 59 in the fourth round of the PGA Tour qualifying tournament in La Quinta, Calif., the first player in eight years to hit golf's magic number at Q-school. Frazar, winless in 300 starts on the PGA Tour, ran off seven straight birdies on the back nine of the Nicklaus Tournament course at PGA West and closed with a par. Frazar is at 24-under 264 and leads by four shots with two rounds to play. The only other player to shoot 59 at Q-school was David Gossett in 2000 - although he failed to earn his PGA Tour card. The top 25 players and ties will earn PGA Tour cards tomorrow. Marshfield's Geoff Sisk shot a 69 and is tied for fifth with Bob Heintz with a 16-under 272 . . . Michelle Wie saved par on three of her last four holes for a 4-under 68 that left her one shot behind former NCAA champion Stacy Lewis at the LPGA Tour qualifying tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla. Lewis shot a 5-under 67 to lead at 15-under 273 with one round to play. Anna Grzebien of Narragansett, R.I., is tied for 12th (7-under 281) and Carri Wood of South Dennis is tied for 16th (6-under 282) as the top 20 finishers will get their tour cards . . . Henrik Stenson shot a 7-under 65 with seven birdies in a bogey-free round in Sun City, South Africa, extending his lead to eight shots after the third round of the Nedbank Challenge . . . Australian star Geoff Ogilvy won the Australian PGA, closing with a 3-under 69 for a two-stroke victory over Mathew Goggin in Coolum . . . Larry Nelson brought a different son and wound up in a familiar spot in Orlando, Fla., as he and Drew Nelson put together an 11-under 61 to share the lead with Tom and David Kite in the Del Webb Father-Son Championship. Nelson won last year's tournament with his youngest son, Josh. Greg Norman and son Gregory were a shot behind.

Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson has been readmitted to a hospital, a month after surgery to implant a pacemaker. The hospital in Charlotte, N.C., said yesterday the pacemaker is working fine, but doctors planned tests to determine why Richardson is feeling ill. The Bills placed rookie defensive end Chris Ellis on season-ending injured reserve because of an ankle injury . . . Running back Deuce McAllister and defensive end Will Smith rejoined the New Orleans Saints, a day after a federal judge blocked their four-game suspensions under the NFL's antidoping policy . . . The nation's longest active high school football winning streak - and fourth-longest ever - came to an end in Murfreesboro, Tenn., when Hillsboro beat Maryville, 10-7, for the Class 4A state championship. The Burros handed the Rebels their first loss since Nov. 28, 2003. Maryville came into the game as four-time defending champions and had won 74 consecutive games.

Sabres call up Gerbe, demote Mancari
The slumping Buffalo Sabres called up Nathan Gerbe, who played at Boston College last season and led the nation with 68 points in helping the Eagles win the NCAA championship.
