Struggling Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins will be out of the starting lineup at least two games. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said he wants Rollins to “sit and watch and relax.’’ Rollins, the 2007 NL MVP, is hitless in his last 19 at-bats and is hitting .211 with six homers and 27 RBIs in 68 games . . . Braves righthander Jeff Bennett was placed on the 15-day disabled list a day after breaking his left hand when he punched a door in frustration after allowing inherited runners to score on Alex Rodriguez’s two-run single in Atlanta’s 8-4 loss to the Yankees Wednesday . . . The Mariners placed shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt on the 15-day disabled list after he pulled his right hamstring running out a ground ball . . . The Pirates sent Ian Snell to Triple A Indianapolis after their No. 2 starter won once in his last 12 starts.

Ramírez quietly exits Albuquerque
Dodgers slugger Manny Ramírez made himself scarce in the clubhouse and didn’t talk to reporters as he came out for warm-ups for his final game with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes. Later, with the start of the contest delayed by rain, Ramírez wore street clothes when he walked through a back door of the clubhouse, stepped into a sedan with an associate and a Dodgers’ security official, and drove away. Meanhwile, Pedro Publio Bosch, 71, the South Florida doctor who reportedly wrote Ramírez a prescription for the female fertility drug that resulted in the All-Star outfielder’s 50-game suspension is under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Agency. Baseball is aware of the investigation and is cooperating with the DEA, major league spokesman Pat Courtney said. . . . Cubs catcher Geovany Soto will not be suspended by Major League Baseball or his team after testing positive for marijuana at this year’s World Baseball Classic. Soto, last season’s NL Rookie of the Year, drew a two-year ban from international competition by the International Baseball Federation. “I am embarrassed by my lapse in judgment,’’ he said in a statement. “

Goodell considering Vick’s future
Commissioner Roger Goodell is evaluating Michael Vick’s future in the league. That doesn’t mean a decision will come before the season begins in September. Goodell said his decision on whether to reinstate the former Falcons quarterback, convicted on federal charges of running a dogfighting ring, will come “in due time.’’ . . . The Jets have been awarded cornerback Rashad Barksdale off waivers from the Giants . . . The Chiefs signed former Pro Bowl safety Mike Brown, who played nine seasons with the Bears . . . The Lions signed center Dominic Raiola to a four-year contract extension.

Fedorov signs with Russian team
Nineteen years after defecting from the Soviet Union, Sergei Fedorov is leaving the NHL to play in his homeland. The 1994 league MVP and three-time Stanley Cup winner with the Red Wings has signed a two-year contract with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Kontinental Hockey League.

Holyfield facing foreclosure on estate
Former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield is facing foreclosure again on his 235-acre estate in suburban Atlanta. A legal notice placed last week in the Fayette Daily News said Holyfield was back in default on his $10 million loan.

Revolution’s Heaps makes US team
Revolution defender Jay Heaps, former Revolution player Michael Parkhurst, and former BC forward Charlie Davies were named to the US roster for next month’s CONCACAF Gold Cup. Also selected were forwards Brian Ching, Freddy Adu, and Charlie Davies, as well as defenders Steve Cherundolo, Heath Pearce, and goalie Luis Robles . . . German swimmer Britta Steffen set a world record of 52.85 in the women’s 100-meter freestyle in Berlin . . . Cappie Pondexter scored 24 points and Diana Taurasi had 23 to help the Phoenix Mercury pick up their first road victory with a 93-87 win over the Washington Mystics in WNBA action . . .
