LOS ANGELES—A Los Angeles judge has ruled the children of a San Francisco Giants fan who was brutally beaten outside Dodger Stadium cannot join their father in his lawsuit against the Dodgers.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported ( http://bit.ly/qofrum) that Superior Court Judge Abraham Khan on Friday granted the Dodgers' request to dismiss Bryan Stow's daughter and son as plaintiffs in the suit, but allowed Stow to seek punitive damages against the club.
Stow and his children filed suit against the Los Angeles Dodgers last month alleging a lack of security, lighting and other problems at the ballpark. Stow's lawyers say his medical care is expected to cost more than $50 million.
Stow suffered a severe brain injury when he was attacked after the Dodgers' home opener against the Giants on March 31. He remains in serious condition at San Francisco General Hospital.
