Edelmann wins Nordic combined WCup event
KUUSAMO, Finland—Germany's Tino Edelmann won a Nordic combined World Cup event Saturday after strong wind prevented the ski jump from being held.
Organizers used the results from Friday's provisional ski jump in which Edelmann ranked first. He moved to the top of the World Cup standings, 20 points ahead of Norway's Magnus Krog.
Edelmann, 29th in Saturday's cross-country race, had a 16-second head start of runner-up Janne Ryynaenen of Finland. He finished eight seconds ahead. Japan's Akito Watabe was third, 12.2 seconds behind the German.
Krog dropped to sixth in Saturday's competition round, beaten by the German by 33.5 seconds.
