The unflappable Alexandre Vinokourov recovered from a demoralizing ride the day before and attacked early and often in yesterday's 11th stage of the Tour de France, an Alpine marathon that included about 40 miles of climbing over three peaks, culminating with the famous 8,678-foot Col du Galibier.
