The Red Sox catcher had more than one home-plate collision with his rival from the Yankees, Thurman Munson. But one, at Fenway Park in 1973, touched off a bench-clearing donnybrook. Munson barreled into Fisk on a botched squeeze play, and when Fisk shoved Munson off him after making the out, Munson punched Fisk, setting in motion a full-scale rhubarb.
Fisk had more than his share of collisions at the plate. In June 1974, he suffered a season-ending knee injury after Cleveland's Leron Lee crashed into him.
