Irving FryarIn January 1986, when the team was preparing for the AFC championship game in Miami, Fryar was involved in a domestic squabble with his wife, and suffered a knife wound in the hand during the altercation. The injury, which required stitches to the small finger, kept him out of the Patriots' dramatic victory over the Dolphins. Fryar maintained that he cut his finger while removing a knife from a drawer in his kitchen, but sources close to the team say he admitted to management that he was involved in an argument with his wife, and when he tried to remove the knife from her hand, he suffered the cut. Fryar returned to play for the Patriots in the Super Bowl and scored their only touchdown. However, two days later, he was named as one of six Patriots' players who had admitted drug usage to management.
