Attraction crowned queen of Royal Ascot

ASCOT, England -- Attraction remained perfect in eight career races with a convincing 2 1/2-length victory over Majestic Desert in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot yesterday.

The 3-year-old filly, ridden by Kevin Darley, took control early and pulled away in the stretch to beat 10 rivals in the one-mile race.

Attraction, the first filly to win both the English and Irish 1000 Guineas, is trained by Mark Johnston and went off as the 3-2 favorite.

"When she turned for home they were all trying to go after her, but she hadn't even started going yet," Johnston said. "She is definitely the classiest horse I have trained."

Majestic Desert, a 25-1 long shot, finished a head in front of Red Bloom.

"To come here and complete the fillies' triple crown -- the two Guineas and now this, and to do it as easy as she did, I'm speechless," Attraction owner Duke of Roxburghe said.
