Little Kiara narrowly wins Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J.—Little Kiara rallied in the deep stretch to beat Emily Allstar by a nose in the $60,000 Open Mind Handicap at Monmouth Park on Sunday.
Ridden by Carlos Marquez Jr., the 5-year-old mare covered the 6 furlongs over a fast track in 1:10 3/5 and returned $16.60, $6.40 and $4. It was the second straight win and sixth overall in 22 career starts for Little Kiara, who has now earned $326,545.
Emily Allstar paid $4.80 and $3.20, while Salad Girl was another half-length back in third and returned $3.20.
