Posted by Greg Lee, Globe Staff August 21, 2008 02:22 AM

The U.S. women's volleyball team turned the tables on Cuba, scoring a 25-20, 25-16, 26-17 victory in the semifinal round at the Capital Gymnasium Thursday afternoon. The win avenged a 3-0 loss to the Cubans in the second game of preliminary play on August 11.

The Americans now will wait to see who they will face in the gold medal game, which will be played August 23 at 8 p.m. They will meet the winner of the second semifinal match between China and Brazil, which will be played a 8 p.m. Thursday evening.
