TORONTO—Top-seeded Novak Djokovic advanced to the Rogers Cup quarterfinals Friday, beating Sam Querrey 6-4, 6-4 in a rain-delayed match.
The match, washed out by rain Thursday, was suspected for 2 1/2 hours by more showers with the second-ranked Djokovic leading 6-4, 4-3. Djokovic, the defending champion, was scheduled to play Tommy Haas in the quarterfinals later Friday. Haas beat Radek Stepanek 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
In quarterfinal matches Friday night, fifth-seeded Janko Tipsarevic beat Marcel Granollers 6-4, 6-4; eighth-seeded John Isner knocked out Canadian Milos Raonic 7-6 (9), 6-4; and 14th-seeded Richard Gasquet topped No. 11 Mardy Fish 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.![]()
